Sounds like a similar theme throughout the answers. Unless you are looking for a really competitive job in a really competitive field that you feel is worth A LOT of tuition, stick to Berkeley.

Also, every kid going to that Ivy League school will have the same 'connections and networking' as you. So you need to stand out regardless of the school you pick...

I have a cousin who got her bachelor degree at Harvard. she then got a masters/and phd. in english and american literature at a different expensive ivy league school. now she teaches english at a local hometown type college.

i do not think she used any connections to get a job because she works at a normal public college. But i am sure her ivy school background helped a lot to be hired as a professor.

it is my belief that anyone can make it anywhere on pure talent.

I don't like the idea of having "connections" because I don't want to feel like I owe anyone anything.

if you think you will be "missing out" because you didn't go to an ivy league, you should go so you don't have any regrets.

maybe after the first year, you might decide you don't like it.

Hopefully you are choosing a career where going to an ivy league school has some relevance. you could go just for the experience.

If I could have gotten into Harvard, I still wouldn't have gone. I actually have a friend who went to Harvard when I went to UF, and he LOVED coming down and having fun in a real college environment... hot chicks, football, parties.... And still a great education.

But hey, do what you what.
