What really does common sense have to do with it when a person has the means to purchase the car. To that person it really doesn't matter.

Common sense would be not buying a brand new car and just buying a used car that can fulfill the same requirements and cost half the price. Cars are not just about price they are also about the emotion it stirs in a person.

Purchasing a car is about the way it makes you feel, the way it calls to you on the dealers lot, the way your face cramps because you can't stop grinning. Hey i wouldn't buy an Acura RSX for example but I got a friend who probably humps his at night in the garage.

I know I have paid some hefty prices down the years on different vehicles but looking back I would do it again because those cars were worth every overpriced penny to me. People like what they like and if they have the means they will get what they want against all reason.

I think it is a nice looking car but mechanically it is a joke. Taking until 8700 rpm to make 560 hp is not very useful. And 354 ft/lbs of torque at 6800 rpm? That is sad. Anything over 75k for this car is laughable, and it weighs as much as a base model vette with all that carbon fiber? What a POS. This car is made just so they can say they have a car that will go 0-60 in under 4 seconds and is made with all kinds of high tech materials. Never mind the fact that the end result isn't worth all the effort and ridiculous cost.

None really, but it feels a lot better knowing your money goes to an American company that pays taxes in this country, instead of a company ..cough..bmw... that takes American tax dollars to build cars here and then takes our money back home to Europe. They only build cars here so they don't have to pay the tariffs so they can take more money back home.

So what about the American workers in those factories.

Well it looks like the price is $375,000. Which is hard to justify when you can buy a Ferrari or a Lambo for that.

I still don't understand how people say a price is not justified. A price point only matters to a person who wants an item and can afford that item.

Just updated the original post. It costs $375,000 as BigRigMike pointed out. Also, power is not 560 hp, is 560 ps (Pferdestärke) which is 552 hp. Consequently, hp/L is down to 115 hp/L and power to weight is 5.9 lb/hp.

I concede. you make a true point, price only matters to the person desiring the car. when i say that the Lexus LFA is not worth the price i am speaking my own opinion. the car, for me, is not worth the 400k price tag. for that i could buy a ferrari F430/458 AND a ZR1 for that price, and be more than the happiest man in the world.

I won't dis any person that i come across who owns the car because, they obviously felt that the car was worth the price. (and i wouldnt mind getting a ride in it )

this just means I would never purchase the car. and it seems to be the general opinion of this forum.

Personally not impressed.

If I had that kind of money I'd buy a classic and put all new parts (engine, tranny, everything) in it.

And then I'd use the leftovers to wipe myself with every time I drove it.

Any cars north of the $150k price tag should have everything (performance and looks) totally flawless.

And this Lexus is NOT flawless in looks.

The aero stuff is too busy and looks like a design committee piece-mealed parts from the IS and other scraps.....
