I'd never have considered buying a Camaro if not for the movie. It brought me to the website and opened my eyes to a quality product. I used to think anyone buying a NA car should prepare for troubles and poor quality. I'm going yellow, although not the TFE. I feel the price was a bit more than I was prepared to pay for the feature. Plus I want painted gloss stripes. Still, I think its a good thing for the Camaro, even if it has it's naysayers.

Rule #11 (wrongfully attributed to Bill Gates): Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one.

ps GMFan454, you sig is disturbing. A lot...

No because I think it was a VW BEETLE in the cartoons.

The TransFormers Edition Camaros are a waste of time....You are only adding badges to some parts of the car and stripes, and paying $995 for it.

I don't hate them or the owners, just saying.
I can't remember specifically but the side badges on our cars are expensive. The sill plates, custom stripes (different than regular black rally) and the embroidery is worth it alone in cost... to me, I'd have expected the package price to be more like $1500 so $900 was a steal. I didn't even consider the car without the TFE package. For me, the TFE package is what won me over to Chevy for the first Chevy car in my life.. and I've spent a good portion of it actually being anti-Camaro! Now I'm one of you. A Camaro owner... all because of the Transformers edition.

Man, I think that by buying the TF Edition you kinda painted a big target on yourself and you should have expected the ridicule.

That being said, I personally like the TFE a lot! I think the resentment comes from those that would like this car to stand on its own, rather than be associated with another pop culture icon. There's a lot of the same sort of "anti KITT" sentiment on the thirdgen boards. Just live with it and know that you have a bitchin ride

Quote for truth.

I also want to point out that a lot of people are angry about what they see as the "mustang" tactic of creating hundreds of "special" editions. They don't want the Camaro to go down that path.

Personally, I think the TFE is interesting and if it attracts more buyers than HELL YEAH!

Just not for me.

Nothing says "kick-butt performance" like having a special edition based off a 1980's toy/cartoon program. I mean, honestly, even if you enjoyed the most recent movies, why would you want that stuff plastered all over your vehicle? It's really, really sad that so many people might have based their car buying decision on something they saw for 5 minutes in a Hollywood production instead truly researching their available options and making a choice using actual data. To each their own, I guess.

Fair enough.

But, why is it so unpopular to be nice and respectful first???

Shouldn't the default response be one that is honest yet courteous...

I am in no way saying that I always follow that. But I'd rather have people be respectful in disagreement instead of letting people say whatever they want under the shield of, "if you don't like it, get tough, this is the interwebs."

Make sense?

It's also sad that you make assumptions here about TFE buyers. I spent two months researching this car. Not just the occasional glance either. I watched videos, read reports, comparisons, data specs, etc., This car brought me to GM. The TFE was an added bonus for my particular situation, interests and enjoyments in life. I would have purchased the car either way but this way I get the car and the TFE.

I enjoy "Star Cars" of all types. General Lees, A-Team Vans (the movie is coming soon!), KITT cars, Starsky & Hutch... you name it. I love the recognizable displays and tributes to movies and shows loved by kids and adults. Even the Ford Mustang Bullitt even though McQueen predates me, the car is a classic Star Car.

Fair enough, but I would hazard to say that your reason for choosing the car differs from the majority of the other people who purchased the same package. Like I said, buy what you want, it's your money. Just don't get all upset if everyone else doesn't have the same appreciation for your choice as you do.

I totally agree. There are going to be people that think it's retarded, I knew that going in. There are people who don't like Camaros no matter what.. I knew that going in. I just think it's rude and unnecessary to be immature about it and go to the TFE threads for the sole purpose of slamming the TFE as some have done.

I agree, and its usually the usual suspects on the site going into threads on other subjects as well and trying to stir things up. I just put those folks on my ignore list.

This forum is no where near as bad as the football forum I belong to, everybody hates everybody there, and no one is allowed to have an opinion. To the OP, thanks for your service. I have a son that just returned from his second tour of the sandbox. And "DrivinginCamaro" your a fine one to talk, I've seen you blast plenty of people. Please all, just treat others the way you would like to be treated! I think all in all we are a mighty fine group of people!

I'm a member of just a few forums, all of them for several years for the most part (new to Camaro5 though) and have determined that you get out of a forum what you put in; a lot like everything else.

If you put crap in, you'll more than likely get crap back out, with few exceptions.
I don't like a LOT of the designs etc I've seen on here, but I will keep the negative opinion and remarks to myself. No need to spluge crap on someone else's design/paint/mods etc just to make myself feel better.

Ordering a non-fat pumpkin spiced latte w/no whipped cream doesn't make me gay, but it gives other people a reason to wonder. But I don't care, they're tasty. And so goes life.
