The problem with Pappy is that it is hyped up and people go crazy to buy it and resell it.

Binny's (IL chain of liquor) has raffles to members only once Pappy does their release.

Old Rip is about $50.00 per bottle with a limit 1. They resell for double-triple that price, if not over $400 per bottle.

The 10 year regular Pappy is $60.00 per bottle and sells for $200 all day.

I've had Pappy 15 year and while it was tasty, I've had better bourbon for a 1/3 of the cost from a retail standpoint.

I'm planning on snatching up a bottle of Woodford Reserve Master collection if the store still has one.

There's a famous bar in Jamaica Plan, Boston that had The Macallan 1946. $300 a glass.

And it sat. And sat. And sat. Do they still have it? maybe. Exposure to light plus the angel's share...no thank you. I am sorry but I would not be tasting the Macallan 1946 in my opinion, even if I found 300 bucks on the sidewalk and figured what the hell.

I'm quite happy with 1792 Ridgemont Reserve and it's cheap.

Haven't had it yet.

I do appreciate cost effective bourbons. Eagle rare is about 32 bucks and it's amazing for the price point.

Its a state of AR problem. I can drive to TN and buy all I could ever want. The distributors for this state have a government sponsored monopoly so we have no choice where to get our inventory. No valid explanation is ever given as to why people in AR can not get the good stuff. They just say it is "Allocated". Fishy is an understatement. I suspect it is being diverted to other places where the distributors can make more money than they would if it was distributed here. Nothing else makes sense to me.

If you're in the market, order from http://www.binnys.com/all/traverse+city

It is from Traverse City Michigan and it is hands down the best ive had. Ive had hundreds of different whiskeys and this is the best. The cherry one is amazing on the rocks.

Well worth the order

Yeah... 2007. I met him once, at a scotch tasting he hosted in Houston. He chewed my ass for smoking a Cuban Partagas Robusto before the tasting started... I was just looking at him, like, are you for real? My buddy I was there with was just laughing his ass off. Needless to say, he just glared at me all night long...

A.D Laws Whiskey House - Secale Rye Whiskey is amazing if you enjoy the spiciness of a real rye whiskey. It is a true craft production opreration and they source no whiskey from any other distillery. Probably pretty hard to find due to the very small batches but worth it if you see it and enjoy that type of whiskey. The 3 year batch I have has an aroma of dried dates while the 4 year Bottled In Bond batch has more of a rye grain aroma. Both are true to the style.
