If a person in the market for a pony car is not brand loyal and just looking for price, the Challenger will undercut the Camaro 9 times out of 10. A Scat Pack is a killer car and a killer price. It is an R/T Challenger equipped with the 6.4L HEMI from the SRT8, packaged together for a price starting under $40k. As I've already stated, the prices of the new 2016 Camaros are through the roof. Go to any GM dealer. They have droves of these things sitting on lots. The look is soft and the price is high. About the only thing remotely helping to move them now is the 2017's being released and dealers needing to move them. BTW, I am a GM guy through and through, but Chevy did no favors with the 6th Gen in terms of appearance and price. ~$52K for a 2SS Convertible? LOL! Laughable at best!
The Challenger only undercuts the Camaro in price when you pick RT or SXT models. And those make up 90% of the Challenger sales if not higher. Like I stated, a $39k SP is a M6 with cloth seats and no tech. It's slower in the 1/4 and slower 0-60 than a M6 6th gen since those are the categories Dodge buyers like to talk about. Base to base, it's $2k more expensive. So is it really a killer deal? It was until the 6th gen was unveiled. When you start loading the options on the SP to match a 2SS price point, they are neck and neck in terms of price/features. You mention vert but you can't get a vert in a Challenger. So not sure how that is figuring into this conversation.

I'm not saying pricing on the LT models is not impacting sales. It likely is, but at the SS level you pay for the level of performance you get. And Dodge's performance models are priced higher in the segment. Another problem is dealers ordering stupid options, lack of rebates, lack of effective PR, and poor push for dealers to sell what they got. Looks are another subjective area. To me the Challenger looks bad with it's skinny tires and huge rear quarter panel. The Charger looks much better imo, but that's me.

I've always liked Camaros and the Challenger. My needs have changed over time and the Challenger is more suited for my driving personality. I like to go fast at times but not often but I like to look cool and feel comfortable all the time. FOR ME, the Challenger fits me the best. I just hadn't pulled the trigger on one because I did not like the Bumblebee and I didn't want it anywhere on my car (but I understand the heritage aspects) and the SRT Challenger was priced too high for my wallet. This T/A model combines the R/T, ScatPack, SRT, and Hellcat into a more economical package FOR ME. I'm a small guy, 6'3 and 240lbs, and it fits me like a glove. I can see comfortably out of it and I feel like new money when I'm in it. I don't ride bikes but I would say a Challenger T/A 392 is more like driving something like this:

Me bringing up the convertible price was simply to show how much more GM is charging for the 6th Gen over the 5th Gen. ~$7k more for what? Hey, if GM is happy having them sit on lots for months on end because nobody wants them...they certainly achieved it.

Agreed. Looks are subjective. If everybody liked the same things, the world would be a very boring place.

2017 Dodge Charger Daytona 392 is just as menacing as the Challenger T/A 392; viable option for those who need the extra rear room.

Those wheels and the shortened rear stripe are nice, I don't like the big HEMI sticker on the hood but that can be deleted/removed.

As stated, appearance is subjective. Everybody will have their own opinion.

Agree on the hood decal. It's probably vinyl and can be removed right?

They usually offer a "stripe" delete option on their cars; if not it can be removed by the owner easily.

I don't like the Black going over the roof & Trunk lid. They should have just done the Hood like the original T/A. The Cuda Scoop is OK I guess

I don't think there is any doubt that the current Challenger/Charger chassis is outdated and that the Gen6 Camaro is the superior car in terms of performance capabilities. But if I had to live with one and drive it everyday I'd have to go with the Dodge just because it's a more comfortable car with better visibility. Depends on your needs and what you'll be doing with the car.

It's probably pissed off current SRT and Scat owners. Their cars will be overshadowed by the new 392 TA. Cheaper than the SRT but better than the Scat since it has Hellcat brakes, wheels and tires. Those alone make up the 4-6k or whatever it is for the package. Plus the go racer stripes and decals, etc.
