I'm not quite sure what he paid for it, but I'm guessing it was at/around the 50-60k mark, as that was what he originally budgeted for a build before deciding to purchase an existing one.

The closer to original specs you get, it seems the more expensive. I recently saw one for sale at a car show that had this same paint job, but a 454ci motor, and not even close to original spec trans/rear end. It was in mostly good shape (an obvious driver, no garage queen) and the guy was asking 32k.
I've been looking into building one for a few years, ERA's are great, one of the nicest kets out there. From all the research I have done, ERA's are generally in the 50-80k range. You can find more expensive kits, superformance comes complete with no drivetrain for about 70k or the more affordable route like FFR that have a wide range based on the build. I have seen these range anywhere from 25k to about 70k. With these cars as mentioned it all comes down to how you build it and what parts you choose to do so.

Had a Factory Five for a few years. Awesome car, very bare bones compared to most muscle cars, but one of the most viceral driving experiences I've had. Was definitely a fair weather car (no top or windshield wipers), but living in AZ, that was fine for most of the year. Mine "only" had a warmed over fuel injected 302, pushing 350hp at the flywheel, and that was more than enough. With big blocks up front, they don't handle very well at all, but with a nice small block, they are on rails. I test drove one before I bought with a Ford Racing 514, and it was freaking scary fast.....

Had a blast with it, as I'm sure your dad will. Was a bucket list car for me, and as a child of the 60's and 70's, was one of the sexiest cars I'd ever seen. Love those lines....

That is just some awesome ride! I can see an eighth gen Maxima (the white car) in the first picture; my girlfriend gave me crap about getting a Ford too, but I'm giving my Camaro to her younger brother for his first car and I'm getting another car that is just as sporty as my Camaro.
