That day can happen. there are many more people in the world who dont care to drive big V8 sports cars. Most people care more about luxury, and fuel economy. so getting rid of these V8 engines will only hurt a small percent of car buyers (like my self).

i could easily believe ford is going to put a GT engine in the GT500.
Maybe someday, but the next version of the GT500 wont have an EB V6, that rumor has already been shot down by someone in the know with Ford...

the emissions is what everyone is worried about.

I would say cars like the 918 spyder are the way of the future. they retain a high displacement, high powered gas engine while having electric assist. You can run the car for 20 miles on just electric. for some people who just drive around town, 20 miles is plenty. but overtime this number will only get better. its way to expensive for affordable cars at this time though.
CO2 emissions are just a different way to measure fuel economy.

1 (US) gallon of gasoline = 19.64 lbs of CO2

Its a bit less for ethanol, a bit more for diesel. But the point is, burning a specific amount of fuel results in a specific amount of CO2. Electrification will improve fuel economy, just as it improves emissions for the exact same reason: when driving on electricity you are not burning any fuel, getting infinite miles per gallon and producing 0 emissions.

Around here, we don't burn coal for electricity. The final coal fired powerplant in Ontario was shut down within the last few years.

A lot is produced like this:

And overnight (when most people charge their EVs), much of the remainder in the province is produced like this (largely thanks to Niagara Falls):

We do have some oil and gas plants, but they're mainly used to cope with peak demand hours or in more remote parts of the province. For most people around here that would be charging an EV or plugin hybrid, there would only be a minimal amount of CO2 emitted when charging their car.

For the record, I'm not a fan of EVs. I just don't like seeing bad information get tossed around.

At any rate, we're kinda getting off topic here. I'm largely responsible for derailing things, so I'll try to get it back on track.
The Next Shelby GT500: Could it be an AWD EcoBoost V6?

Even if we are still producing emissions from burning coal to produce power for our electric cars. Its overall going to be less. Also you gotta kind of figure we will only be getting more efficient with energy overtime.

electric is the future period. the best source would be from the sun.
