In the last 5yrs. I owned a....2005 Toyota, 2005 Dodge, 2007 Lexus, 2008 Tahoe, and a 2010 camaro.
I am not loyal to any brand ! Over the decades I have owned 97 cars, of many diff. brands, 19 were imports. I never buy a car Just for the brand it is.

Since minivans don't count, I can't say I've ever driven owned a Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep product...and I can't say I want to.
BUT -- I've driven an '09 Mustang, Flex, F-150, Explorer, Fusion, and Focus. I would happily own any of them. I just like GM products better. No specific reason, and I suspect it has a lot to do with my familiarity with the company/cars.

I was brought home from the hospital when I was born in a 1964 Pontiac GTO 389 Tri-Power 4spd.
I learned to drive in a 1970 Buick GS My first car was a 1974 Pontiac Le mans Other cars I have owned. 1977 Pontiac Trans Am 1978 Pontiac Trans Am 1979 Pontiac Trans Am 1980 Pontiac Trans Am 1993 Pontiac Formula Firebird 1999 Pontiac 30th Anniversary Trans Am (still have) 1977 Pontiac Can Am 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP 1981 Olds Cutlass Supreme 1983 Olds Cutlass Supreme 1984 Olds Cutlass Supreme 1987 Chevy Cavalier Z-24 1993 Chevy Cavalier Z-24 1988 Chevy Camaro Z-28 2000 Ford Ranger 2003 Ford Ranger Edge (still have) Sorry GM Ford Trucks > GM Trucks :( See a pattern here? poster: my camaro came with 982hp. fdjizm: no it didn't. poster: it's been proven that 2010 camaro's run circles around ferraris,lambo's, etc... fdjizm: no they don't. poster: this is an isolated incident. fdjizm: no it isn't. on that note my honest to goodness thought here take it for what it's worth but don't lose your mind., I wish the camaro had a better company backing it. (pm me if you have any issues that cannot be discussed without cursing )

I don't fit the current date bill
Fords are pains in the ass to fix. But I love my 69 Thunderbird. Anyways I will say my little bit. I bought a camaro over a Ford/Dodge beacuse my dad had a 78 z28 in the same colour as my 2010 abm ss now, we are GM fans but our daily driver is a 91 Chrysler New Yorker Fifth Ave (Mark Cross Leather Package, best seats in the freaking world) and we are fixing up a sweet 4door 69 Thunderbird. I personally dont have any american brand preference, but some of the things that made the Camaro so appealing was the price/performance raito, and it really does look the best of the three. I personally dislike the pinched tailights of the new mustang and really its too small for me. I like a car with a larger profile. That said I definatly would jump on a Rouch or Shelby if I found a well price one down the road. After the camaro is paid off lol. We are however looking into a Ram srt10 and have found some good deals around here. One day, I really need something other than the new yorker and the enclosed trailer to move my atv and the old mans dirtbike. Dont wanna have another tranny just GIVE UP FOR NO REASON on the flats under no stress long after easily pulling hills =\ That said the engine is a tank. Wont burn a drop of oil >.< |

I can't vote in your poll because my Chrysler Town and Country was a 2003 model. I used it as a trade in on the Camaro. It's been a while since I've owned my two Fords. I owned a 1999 Ford Windstar and the transmission went out at the end of the warranty. Yes that was my two Fords, my first and my last. Out of the 20 some odd cars I've owned, There was only the one Chrysler and the one or did I say two Fords. 13 of them were GM's. Two 67 Camaros, two Cadillac DeVilles, an 81 Trans Am, two Monte Carlos, one a 78 and an 87 SS, and 6 various GM trucks. Now the 2010 Camaro makes my 14th, if I haven't forgotten some others. I've also owned several imports. My daily driver is a 2000 Mercedes Benz E320 with 231000 miles on it and my wife drives a 08 Honda Accord. The Accord has more America made parts on it than the 2010 Camaro!

I get what you are trying to do, others just seem to mess the concept completely. Anyway I own a 2007 Chrysler 300, and about to purchase a Lincoln(FORD) 2009 MKZ. So yeah if the quality and styling is there I will own it. Loyal to GM but if the other American car companies makes something that I like I will own it. Really like those MKS over anything Cadillac makes.

[QUOTE=Speedfreak;893373]2000 Ford Ranger
2003 Ford Ranger Edge (still have) Sorry GM Ford Trucks > GM Trucks :( QUOTE] As a mechanic I'll take a GM truck over a Ford any day. While the Ranger is an ok truck for what it is and it definitely beats the s-10, I wouldn't own a F-150 unless it was given to me. Too many problems and hard to work on. You have to pull the body off the truck to do any major engine repair, not to mention the notorious spark plug blowing out taking the threads with it problem they had for years. But they thought they fixed it. The went with a small spark plug that will break off in the head while removing it instead of it blowing out. At least they made a kit to fix it and it is a major money maker for shops that work on them. They also have and have had timing chain tensioner issues on some explorers and now on the 05 up F series. I can't find any major engine issues on the GM truck engine though. |

Well, I hope this applies:
2007 Dodge Truck 2009 Chevy Cobalt SS 2007 Ford Fusion (my work car) I have really like GM products lately. However I have to say I wasn't so fond of some of the stuff they made in the 80s and 90s. I'd say American companies are very competitive now and as long as they are I'll choose an American product over a foreign one. |
