It's time to get your head out of the past. The market and industry has changed tremendously since the days when having 8 divisions selling more or less the same car was feasible.
I'd get my head out of the past if they would do something worthwhile more often during the present.

I saw the Lacrosse in person today. WOW! What a beautiful car. My wife is pretty sure she's ordering one.

(Oh yeah and it IS a LaCrosse in Canada, cause that's what the badge said. I figure GM really doesn't think its worth the money to stock different badges for the same car so as to not make some people in Quebec snicker at a name.)

Look at the Headlight switch and the steering column controls!
Yes...look at other GM products and you'll see the same thing. Corporate steering wheel, corporate switchgear.

Which is why your comments never have any relevance.

I wouldn't miss Buick...the division lost all of its luster long ago. A Cadillac would serve just fine if I wanted a cushy ride.

Which is why I still wonder why they kept it around.

Then again the argument could be made with GMC.

GMC competes with Chevy

Buick competes with Cadillac

I mean the Mercury line is slated to get canned leaving Lincoln and Ford itself. Still don't understand why they need Buick or GMC when Chevy and Cadillac can do just as well.

No offense Fen but it is what it is. :/

His comments have as much relevance as yours. Who are you to pass judgement like this?

A) Pontiac is dead.
B) Overlapping products is bad enough, you're suggesting GM build a car to directly compete with an existing one, which is horrible business sense.
C) Easier said than done.
Do you even read what you write. Look at your point B!!!!

Camaro and Firebird go after the exact same target market. Chevrolet and GMC do not, as I've already pointed out, GMC attracts a more affluent customer base than Chevrolet.

Fail. Sierra competes directly with Silverado.

And Sierra Denali competes with...what?

Not to mention that the full size truck market is completely different than the RWD sports coupe market. (Sport coupes = niche products, trucks = mainstream products)

Bottom line: GMC presents GM with a highly profitable division which they cannot ignore and will not kill. Not only that, GMC has a global presence, unlike Pontiac which was limited to the NA market. GMC generally attracts a wealthier customer base, some of which view Chevrolet as a "cheap" brand. In addition, GMC is on the track to begin offering premium features over Chevrolet, as evidenced by the Acadia (HUD) and the Terrain (Rearview camera standard, USB port standard).

Denali is just the high-end Sierra.

I love the Denali's but the price is absurd.

Not necessarily. The vehicle the Sierra Denali was designed to compete with, the Lincoln Mark LT, was around that price point as well.
