Look, I get paid a salary (and I already defined what that is). However, I work between 0 and 20 hours a week. Not 40 like you would assume. And since I work from home, it's easy to BS those hours outside of the 9-5 schedule. All I'm asking is if I took a regular 9-5 job meanwhile, and I do both jobs great, what's the big deal? My biggest concern is a future company calling both previous employers and realizing my gigs have overlapped. Then I am kinda screwed, I think? |

It seems like you have your mind made up to take a second job and you just want people to affirm your decision. That's why you made this thread. You're just trying to get people to convince you it's okay. Whether or not it really is okay, that's between you and your current employer from a legal standpoint and between you and your conscience from an ethical standpoint.
I'm in a similar situation as a salaried employee. I work out of my home and out of my truck. If the state found out I was doing dual employment without informing them, I'd be terminated. If the state found out my second job was interfering with my official government duties, I'd be terminated. Just food for thought.
