Definitely, can't compete with a Audi A3! Especially in the looks department!

I could go on because there are several others, but you get my point.

Front wheel drive coupe convertibles have been a massive failure in the automotive industry for the past decade, all the manufacturers that have produced them have only ever really sold them in quantity at a fleet level to car rental companies, look it up if you don't believe me.

Why then would GM release a vehicle that historically is doomed to fail, and why would they do it after everyone else has exited this market..

Typical GM, they don't pay attention to the current demand, but rather bring up the rear with designs and options that everyone else has had for the past 5 years..

It's getting a little tiresome. I have always owned and loved GM cars, but for the past decade I don't see them making any strides in keeping up with the market, they seem to continually be "behind the 8 ball" with every decision they make.

They continue to lose sales to imports by not offering equal level amenities in their vehicles and over pricing those vehicles with less options and subpar quality compared to their competition.

I just don't get it..
Hahaha... Agree !

Yet Audi brings in the new A3 convertible.

This a play for image more than huge sales. The car was mostly tooled and only needed some tuning and features to be US ready. Doesn't need to sell big.

Well I'd did go shopping on line before I commented. And sure there are back packs and bags, but very prevalent were wicker baskets. Sorry, but they appear to be as timeless as Yogi.

Where is the guy who has the tag "i got tired of waiting for gm to build a FWD vert" lol.

I don't feel good about GM going back to badge engineering. At least give it a Buick-look. I'll pass on this.

Qs muscle. i disagree. first of all, i do like your analogy to "soft" sales, in describing verts. lol
anyway, i do beg to differ on the chrysler sebring verts. here in KC, over the years, have seen a ton of them and still do. my gf still has her 96 sebring vert. the top has always worked. i think that yes, verts are in less demand, but still do have a market, hence, AUdi, BMW, mercedes, still offer verts, Jags too.
i did like the looks of the camry vert, the Solara, but, it was bulky looking.
and the vette still offered in a vert.

its just a limited market, and some go by the wayside cause of costs to come up with new designs, and manufacture, for such a limited market.

but, the Sebring and even Mustang verts, you sure see alot of them here, so i wouldnt say they are a "soft" market even though they have "soft" tops.!

Take away the badges and I would have never guess it was a Buick.

But will it sell at all? I'd love to know what their target sales are.

Nice enough looking car...looks better in the rolling footage than in the images, which is common. Nothing too special though.

My guess is that the target audience is the middle aged woman whom no longer needs room and looking for something more fun, with some younger buyers sprinkled in.

It isn't an A5 competitor so I hope it isn't priced like one.
Looking at the Audi site, the A3 Cabriolet (convertible) starts at $35,500 for the 1.8T, and $38,600 for the 2.0T. The A5 Cabriolet (convertible) starts at $47,600
