There have been a number of books written since, I think as more if this info is put together, maybe there will be more movies as there are so many stories still to be told.

A lot of USA records were burned in a warehouse in St. Louis in the 70's ... including my dads.

Spoiler Alert

A story he told once, actually happened in this movie. Many of the tank commanders would stand up so they could see 360 degree view, rather than just a small slit of a window. (TD was open turret, no commanders window)

That's what his commander was doing when they were confronted by enemy artillery. The end result was the same as the Tiger tank scene where one of the commanders was standing. He never said it was a Tiger, but they all feared that German 88.

Dad was the driver on a TD crew, 1943 till the end of the war.

Like so many of the troops, he rarely talked about the war. Lots of stories about an AWESOME generation are quickly disappearing.

RIP dad
