As Dragon said, the Stingray concept was a design study, so you'll probably see a fair amount of cues and elements make their way onto the C7, but it won't look like the Stingray whole product.

I'd hate to see the Corvette see a significant price increase due to "exotic" materials, but I wouldn't mind seeing it go just a little more upscale. Currently, it has the same steering wheel from a Cobalt and chairs even less sporting than the Camaro's. It is GM's signature performance car, after all, and it should feel distinct sitting inside it. Hopefully new DI engines will improve fuel economy without having to resort to exotic materials to save weight (it is already commendably light and fuel efficient for what it is anyway) and that money can be spent on improved quality.

If the release of a new generation Corvette pushes down the price of used C6 Corvettes enough, I may switch from Project Camaro to Project Corvette. Hmm, distinct good looks and lower price or dedicated performance machine...

Not to get off topic...but you think so?

I was lucky enough to be able to sit in both within second of each other (finally...)...and the Camaro felt distinctly more comfortable...but I felt the Corvette's were slightly more sporty.

Gonna have to disagree with you there. I wasn't able to sit back to back like you, but I remember the Corvette chairs feeling distinctly more La-z-boy than Recaro.

my only worry is that they try to make the interior as ... creative as they made the Camaro's, and fail.

That, and I hope the car doesnt add weight.

Chances are no. For one, they designed the Camaro's interior based off of the concept which nobody complained about...so they used that feedback. And I'd hardly say they failed...though I may have misread your post.

It's going to be smaller and lighter, potentially through the use of more exotic materials.

EDIT: Belated thought...I saw an interview with Fritz recorded two months ago. This was while the C7 was still on hold. He said their present strategy is to keep the C6 competitive through "improvements in little steps" -- that they don't need a new Corvette 'now', because it's still a class-leader. He also said that when the C7 is produced it will be a significant "leap" forward from the current car.

I would not mind having a Sting Ray, it would have to be Blue for some reason.

I wasnt implying the Camaro's interior was a failure, I was implying that I hoped they didnt go for another really retro interior because to be honest, i dont think it would work. I think they are better going with a 21st centry cockpit to compete with bmw and porsche.

sounds expensive.

That black one is an actual car. It's called the Z03. Some company (forgot their name) re-skins C6 Corvettes to look like that. More than likely the design is copywritten...

EDIT: But it definitely looks hot!!!

It's not. Just a design study.
