I stopped by the dealer today to check on the Vue. They put a more experienced tech on it and he drove it. It was acting up on him also so when he got back he pulled the pan and found metal shavings. So this means a total tear down and rebuild.
I checked the Saturn Vue forum last night and it is a common problem with 2008 Vues and Auras. At around 60,000 miles they will start shifting erratically and then shortly afterwards will completely go out. It's something called the clutch wave plate will fracture and eventually come apart. There is a new part to replace it that is not prone to this issue.

Commits weekly crime
|
I had a 1.4 Turbo Sonic sedan for about a year before I got my Audi. Was an interesting car and great around town. I like to do road trips though, and on longer trips, my main problem was the stability of the car.
You know those centerline bumps that warn you you're crossing over? Making a pass and hitting those bumps really unsettled the car. With my Camaro or my Audi, you'd notice the bumps, but it wouldn't shift the car a foot in either direction on a whim because the car was so light. The Sonic was a good car for what it was though...great around town and good gas milage.

Me too, found out over the weekend if you have 3 people in the Spark and the AC on, you might as well take your time, you are not getting anywhere fast...
Looking at my finances over the weekend, trading for anything is really not a good idea at this time... Thanks everyone for your input, I will update this when I get my Vue Back...

Vue Fixed!
Just went and picked up the Vue. According to the technician the clutch wave plate was shattered into 4 pieces. They replaced that, all the clutches, the gear assembly and filter. In other words they rebuilt the transmission.
It shifts better now than ever. Happy camper now. I told them as I left I hope I don't have to come back for a long time.....

Don't think of it as a lame car. Think of it as the right tool for the job.

I don't think its a lame car either, but after living with it a week I decided it's better as a third car and not one of my two main vehicles....

I hear ya. I'm actually thinking the Spark is my next move as well once the Camaro is paid. I'm gonna see what Rodger's Chevy can do.

I talked to Becky about one. There isn't a lot they can do because there isn't much markup on them. You might get a new one for about $500 under MSRP plus any discount ts you are eligible for. Best thing to do would try to get a private $1000 offer if they can be applied to a spark. I don't know if they can though.
