Ya know, this is too funny. they get people out to buy a new car with a half-ass attempt to fund this project, knowing full well that they might have a rush on consumers taking up the program. Fast forward not a week later and it's suspended. I cannot believe how INEPT our government is. It defies logic to think they'd pull this crap this early on and a lot of people are in midstream on a car deal with their dealer. We as a 'nation' are gonna have to start 'policing' our government. It's as simple as that. It's kinda like sheep being led to slaughter. i can say this because i served in the military and was fed a line of bullshit a mile long during the 1st Gulf war. i won't make this anymore political. I just think it's ludicrous the way our politicians come up with these ridiculous programs and SUDDENLY run out of money quickly.
It's just funny how they have endless amounts of cash to fund other worthless crap and they cannot do something meaningful for the average citizen.

I'm waiting for the money sent to michigan to improve the roads runs dry halfway through a major repave. Yeah.. you tore up everything including the road bed and oops..out of money. I'm also waiting for this to be a first salvo in an attempt to get 'the offending carbon polluting vehicles of the road' where they 'refuse to re-register said offending vehicles.'

Oh wait, that's against la-

Nevermind, they just rewrote it.

Eff it, I'm keeping my Explorer. I may dislike it, but I will NEVER allow it to succumb to a fate such as this.

Another sleep deprived idea..

Each 'offending unregisterable vehicle' will be replaced with a voucher for a 'new' Tata Nano or other subsidized sub $10K micro car.

Damn, I dunno why but I see this as something they'd pull.

The cost of a Yaris with 4,000 credit from the clunker on a longer term loan is dirt cheap. The money saved in gas and upkeep should be able to keep the payments current.

That means they would be out then, you contradicted yourself. Needing X amount of money and only have X amount would mean having less than what you need, meaning you are out of it.

Folks keep politics out unless it's something in the bill related directly to Camaro and that should be said as matter of fact.

They probably will add money to the program. As far as the automation errors. Probably another reason it's on hold.

not quite. There is significantly more demand than anticipated so the program was put on hold before it ran out of money completely. Its the difference between looking in your bank account and seeing that you've only got $100 left, vs not being able to pay for a cup of coffee. According to what I've read, the money is nowhere near gone but it is being used up at about $32M a day which equals to 8000 vehicles. At that rate, the money would have been depleted in about a month, yet it was expected to last roughly 3 months.

Considering that for the month of June, the daily sales rate in America was some 28000, either 1 of 2 things has been happening. Either everyone who was going to be buying an efficient vehicle anyway is taking advantage of the plan, or there is a significant increase in sales.

they are having an emergency vote to find another $2B! The government seems hell bent to waste our tax dollars on this program and kill some good cars!

Idiots.

vash, i don't believe politics is involved....it's a government run program. The topic is directly related to us and what is going on here...
i'm giving a perspective based on what i see, and have experienced.....it's very hard not to separate the two on here....................
