I have to say I do like the Cherokee in trailhawk edition only but for that it starts at over 30k with the 4 banger and I think 33k for the 6 a bit pricey imo when a wrangler that is more capable off road can be had cheaper.

Most people that buy vehicles like the Cherokee will never go off roading anyway, that is not its primary function. Whereas the wrangler does not make a good daily driver for most people.

LOL, it is so great we have come so far since then.

The sport starts at 23k, trailhawk roughly 30k, but the trailhawk has so much equipment the rest of the class cannot touch. Keep in mind too that the Cherokee offers fuel economy, handling, and a ride the Wrangler cannot touch and still offer excellent off-road ability in the Trailhawk version and even the lower models can have an actual low range gear which puts them WAY ahead of the competition.

Went by the local Jeep dealer today, and looked at one of the Sport models. I guess they were not to interested in selling one because nobody ever came out to talk to me.
My initial impression is I like it, the front is odd but not in a bad way. The interior looks about like it has the same amount of room as my Vue does. I wish I could have driven both a 4 cyl and V6 but as I said nobody bothered to come out. Anyway I wouldn't do business with them because they had a $1,700 dealer markup on them. Funny their internet ads list the price with the markup as the MSRP, which is wrong.

I hate dealers that do that. Every one around here does. From Kia to Chrysler to GM to Toyota to Ford. it irks me, then they act like that is the MSRP. Stupid dealers are stupid.

I always make it known that their add on price is not relevant, they and start the dealing at the actual MSRP or I walk.

I just don't know, I wish there was a midsized SUV that would just get me to the "Gotta Have One" point like I was after seeing the concept Camaro. But to tell you the truth most are either boring looking or just plain ugly....
I like the look of the Buick Encore, but it's way too expensive for my budget.

Chrysler did the pres intro for the new Cherokee here at Summit Point on our off road course. In preperation for the event I got to drive a pre-production model with the off road package several times while we planned the course for the press to drive. I have to say that from an offroad point of view, I was impressed.

There were only a few areas we avoided with press, but for the most part it did all of the areas we normally do with our older slightly modded Jeeps. Clearance was the biggest issue, but as long as we didn't high center it, the vehicle would get through damn near any obstacle. I did very little on road driving, but it was pleasant enough on pavement between the off road sections.

The interior was nice, and all seemed to be put together well. The only drawback to me was that you couldn't "trail drive" the car as the drive by wire throttle would cut the fuel if any brake was applied.

I liked it, and would consider getting my wife one.
