So you admit you were speeding. Is that not what your ticket was for?

Yes, I know. But either way he admits he was speeding at least 5MPH over. So he doesn't really have a defense, speeding is speeding.

Got one of those tickets 25 years ago on my way to vegas from so calif. Fight it. The cop who wrote the ticket along with the pilot and observer will have to show up in court. And you can ask for the calibration of the aircraft they used. None show up at mine. So I won.

Do not just mail in the fine. I would show up for the court summons and see if the state has a real person witness show up. If the witness does not show up, the case can be dismissed due to lack of evidence. If the witness does not show (and I doubt he will) I would be surprised if the court does not just offer this to you even before court begins. You can walk away scott free. You have NOTHING TO LOOSE by doing this and everything to gain by going this route. Worst thing that can happen is you ask for "probation" and do the driving school (or whatever they want) to keep those moving violation points off your record. Your insurance company WILL check and they will charge you a lot more money for 3.5 years untill it goes away if points get on your record. The court fine is nothing compared to the insurance upcharge.

Show up for the summons date and see for yourself.

Dude, that sucks, and it sounds like that officer was a Maximum Douche. However, the way that it works is NOT your word vs. the officer's word, it is YOUR word vs. the STATE's word.
(State being the opperatiing governmental authority in question.)
As long as there is no refuting evidence, such as a video that proves your case, the State's word prevails.

I admit this is total BS, but that is how it works.
The state will never admit that this sytem is fallible and corrupt.

You are correct though, ALWAYS fight the ticket.
Always schedule/request a hearing, and show up, if the cop doesn't show, or in some jurisdictions is late, the case is automatically dismissed.
If the cop shows up, USUALLY it is best to plead guilty with an explanation- usually the jusdge will listen to your story and then reduce the fine or charge.
Also, consider hiring a traffic lawyer. Usually they charge around 110% of the cost of the ticket (ie $110 for a $100 fine,) but usually they can get you off scott free. Points were always the issue with me, not the actual cost.
I posted a thread on this forum about how to not get a ticket, if anyone is interested.

If he does, then i will get the ticket lowered. This is why you should FIGHT tickets. The guy lied to my face and then told me that he had more power than me. Ridiculous!
