Are gun nuts kind of like beer nuts? 'Cause I'm slightly allergic to legumes... ==>

Don't get me wrong, I like guns and I like to shoot. But, the militias that exist today aren't well regulated and aren't there for the reasons the 2nd amendment was written. Seems like people like to cherry pick the latter half of the amendment, and conveniently forget the first half. I mean, if everyone is so gung ho on the 2nd amendment, why don't have 100's of well regulated militias? Or how come there isn't a massive grass roots movement to change the 2nd amendment to remove the part about militias? Just strikes me as odd that it's written plain as day, yet no one ever quotes the whole thing. I could never figure out how people could support only half of the amendment.
Maybe because the FBI keeps raiding and arresting every "well regulated militia" that pops up.

They are hardly well regulated, more like a bunch of nut jobs; hence them getting arrested. Unless you think shooting cops is the sort of well regulated people you want around. Find me 5 well regulated militias, that are well balanced and operating with local officials for the defense of their counties and states; then we'll talk. More often then not, they are just hyped up nutters with a beef against authority. Or worse, they have an inflated sense of self righteousness. Either way, the FBI and ATF do a good job of keep these kooks under control.

My point was more that the 2nd amendment has been interpreted by supreme court, and it needed to be. If one was a strict constitutionalist, as the quote suggested, then private citizens would only be able to own firearms if they belonged to a well regulated militia. Luckily, there have been more level heads that have interpreted the amendment to allow us to own guns privately, and with regulation. I certainly don't want to be part of a militia, and am glad that the courts have ruled that I can own fire arms privately. I'm also fine that there are some rules that govern the purchase and ownership of them. Granted, the restrictions wax and wane over time, but that is how we set up our government.

I only noticed because I was wondering why someone was asking if there were any gun nuts, when we already had a firearm section. Then I saw the date of the first few posts and saw that it was an old thread resurfaced.

The purpose of the after my statement was to indicate I was being facetious. Thanks for catching that

I want to get an FN Five-seveN. But I hear the ammo is a little more expensive to use as a target practice gun, so I may need to go get something comparable with a 9mm chamber. Any suggestions?

my first hand gun was/is a CZ 75 SP01 tactical in 9mm. It has some "heft" to it and feels quite solid. Accuracy is good. I've fired over 1,000 rounds with it with NO misfires. I'm satisfied with it.

Anyone have any decent spots for concealing in the Camaro? Only thing I could see right away would be putting a holster between the seat and center console.

You can always reload the ammo for the FN Five-seveN, There is not to many hand guns like that one with good range (50+ yards) and if you have some of the old ammo that can hit 2200+ feet per second that is one hell of a gun.

Red face Word to the wise.

Discussing, or worse displaying weapons may be okay amongst those who respect the second amendment, but it may not be wise amongst those who do not respect the second commandment:

Thou shalt not covet thy neighbors' straps.
