Sorry to hear it, truly. Sounds like though if she had to get cancer this was one of the "better" ones (though that is like say which BBQ do you prefer to be grilled on).

DAD HAS CANCER NOW

I just hit by a double whammy. My mom was diagnosed with cancer on May 1st. Now my dad just got diagnosed with prostate cancer on Thursday so sick of THIS CRAP>>>>> I feel sorry for my dad lost his vision 12 years ago now has to deal with this on top of it

As a radiation oncologist (cancer doctor) I have treated thyroid cancer quite a bit. It is a VERY curable disease and even when it comes back it RARELY hurts a person or causes them to die early.

Radioactive iodine has a high cure rate in addition to surgery.

I have also treated a lot of prostate cancer... and usually it is also very indolent and hard to die from.

I hope I could give you all some medical insight to make you feel better. As others have said, these are very slow growing cancers and the cure rate is VERY high.

Sorry to hear about everyone coming down with Cancer. It's never a fun time and just leads to tons of heartache and inconvenience. The thyroid cancer isn't as dangerous as some of the other cancers, but after having to deal with a close relative just go through this and the aftermath, I wouldn't wish it on pretty much anyone.
