I wont sugarcoat the situation for any corporation, and Ford does indeed still face some tough times and continues to make some poor choices. That said, there is no comparison between the situation at Ford and the situation at GM, and were it possible whoever wrote this article should probably have his or her degree revoked, this brief synopsis of the situation really is that misguided (honestly I only read a portion of it as it only took a few sentences to realize the author is an utter moron with a very simplistic viewpoint regarding this situation)

Let me put it this way, as regards the financial state of GM I haven't been wrong yet....literally. Can you say the same for these guys?

Well that is the problem. I read articles saying the samethings, but from different people. I have heard the same from economist giving reports on several places all saying the same thing as well. This guy that you label moron is just spouting the same as several other. So not just one guys opinion. This is coming from several sources.

Agreed Jekel, it's the snowball that i'd fear. if one falls, a ton of jobs are lost. that's people without money to spend. Company Automaker 'A' falls, supplier A loses huge client, goes out of business. those thousands of employees stop spending. other industries feel the pinch, more layoffs. you can see where this goes without me spelling it out. but i've got a bit of faith that tells me the gov is smart enough to no let any of the icons fall.

and someone brought up the 'war' argument, which is valid. back in the wars, north american automakers retooled their plants for wartime production. if north american factories ceased to exist, basically in a war we'd be pretty much screwed.

mind you that's all doomsday prophecy, and i don't believe at all that will happen. big 3 are here to stay IMO
