That is not the bumper. It is the front fascia and the plastic across the lower grill opening is covering the bumper beam, likely extruded aluminium.

P.S. And yeah, this car having the LS3 with a 6 speed auto does kinda piss me off.
Why? The Corvette has had the LS3 with an automatic for years now.

Front brakes do most of the work and under hard braking they do even more. Best balance for cost vs. performance. Unless you are going to the track with this car, completely un necessary.

That being said, I would have liked to have seen them all around too.

Overall it's what I feared. A G8 GXP updated with a bow tie. And no manual. The manual was one of the best parts of the GXP.

It will do well simply because the volumes will be low. Not sure what GM expects, but I wouldn't think this would sell over 10,000 units per year, but it depends on the price.

Sounds like it's loh oh oh oh oh ded so now we can just wait for the price.

My guess? $45,995 with no options or very few options.

And as GM hasn't announced the EPA, it very well could have a GG tax. But my guess is that with a 5 second 0-60 it might be geared for FE more than pure speed. Not sure anyone would have liked a Camaro SS with an LS3 that only did 5 seconds.

Also I predict a manual trans mid year or second year. Can't imagine anyone calling this a Corvette with 4 doors and only having a manual.

Overall, a solid car, I'd still consider it but it's no faster than my S4 and it doesn't have AWD and parking itself doesn't make up for that

I absolutely love it. Obviously the Holden version is more sporty but I'll take it. I just wish I could swing the likely 45k tag. :(

Like the interior but too plain of a design on outside. I like what Buick has done with the Regal more than what Chevy has done wiht this SS.

Is this the imported version of the Holden Commodore HSV?

You guys should be happy that there's a sedan option again with balls in the USA. The bowl of desire is never filled.

Everything you guys are asking about with regards to aftermarket for this platform is available in Australia.

I agree regarding this car being a lux version entry, so the price probably won't be below MSRP $45K USD. With dealer markups and the like, I see it hitting $55K USD.

I suppose there will be a Cadillac version of this same platform?

No. Cadillac's moving to Alpha for RWD applications. The flagship will be on an all-new RWD platform.

Zeta is pretty much done after VF Commodore unless GM pulls something else out of the hat.

overall i do like it... i just feel like the design is dated... honestly it looks like something that a higher end brand would have released about 8-10 years ago

The rear looks like a nicer malibu, which does look good, but IMO too bland for a car with this resume.

The only thing i would definitely change though is the front grille. To me, its not nearly as aggressive as it should be . I think it would look better by removing the top opening with the emblem, and raising the blacked out/lower grille a bit, and making that the focal point, similar to the Sonic

The thing to remember about these Holdens is that they're family cars in Australia. The Commodore is the equivalent to an Impala or Malibu (yes I know the Holden Malibu is on the way). The difference is that Australians refuse to give up RWD sedans, and because of that, you can cook up some pretty decent performing cars out of mom's daily driver. The entire HSV tuning arm is basically dedicated to doing that.

The consequence is that the cars aren't nearly as aggressively designed as say, a Dodge Charger, which was conceived from the get-go as a performance-oriented car.

Wouldn't it be nice if GM could do that here? They're all about global design now, so shouldn't we be benefiting from HSV's expertise?

Well the other problem with that is Zeta is basically becoming the red-headed stepchild at this point. GM doesn't really want to invest much more into the platform. Alpha's proving to be a much better platform.
