Lots of people seem to want to race. Some of these people are drving respectable cars and could probably come close to kicking my ass, but most are just people who added a noisy mufler to their cars and who now they they are "cool". Even worse these guys always think they have something to prove.

Do this:

The next time a dweeb is reving his engine and licking his chops at you challenging you to a race, take an agressive stance: Hold your steering wheel at the top so he can see it, drop your right hand to your shifter even if its an automatic, and look like you're ready to race too. Be subtle and cool about it though - after all, you're driving a Camaro. No need to show off.

And now... 3...2...1.... DO NOTHING!

When the light turns green watch watch him redline his engine and drive away like an idiot, while you gently press the gas and drive normally. Don't forget - you already won the COOL. No need to win the "Race". That sucker just spent $10 of gas in 5 seconds, caused $100 worth of damage to his gearbox, and with luck just earned himself a ticket.

Cool Trick!
I had a D.A. pull up to me at a stoplight 2 weeks ago in a POS chrysler concorde (I think- it was ugly & 4 doors!) and I let him do the same thing - he went down to the next intersection and tried to spin the FRONT tires - I was driving my '67 Camaro with a ZZ4 (ha).

Actually I had a cop pull up to a light next to me and when I glanced his way he was looking at me and he reved up his engine and smiled. I didn't bother trying anything though and left the light at a normal pace.

Yep, this is one of my favorite tricks. I know of 2 people who for sure got tickets from me psych-ing them out, and 1 who talked his way out of it. Fun times, fun times.

I've done that plenty, especially when people are sitting with me in the car and the last thing I would do is risk my friends life as well as mine... It works everytime, lolz...

IMO, it's a dumb idea. Why toy witho someine if you are not going to race them..either you do or you don't..Whatever floats your boat..but to go through the motions...???? To each their own.

If I had a dollar for every time some tool rev'd his engine when driving by me or when lined up next to me at the light....I would have enough for my vert!

It's all kinds of people too! Cars, trucks, they all want me to know that they are bad'asses. I just ignore them and go about my business...but it gets very anoying.

I can't be one of those guys that are too "cool" to have a little fun or are afraid that they might lose and look bad. Provided we aren't endangering other drivers of course.
