One more thing, I like the chase set up, and I like the fact that Nascar is not afraid to tweak things mid stream (though that's not always a good thing, but they eventually get it right), the one thing that I don't like is the fact that the driver who finishes the regular season in first place might not start the chase there once points for wins are added. Regardless of how many wins, the driver who finished first did so by being consistent all year long, and thus should not be punished for this. I say first stays first and then realign the rest of the 11. My $.02

Sometimes I feel this whole chase thing is missing something. It comes down to who has the most luck, and stretch of good organization as a team, the last 10 races. I feel that under the old points system, they really had a champion. Now it just seems less deserved.

Its more deserved now. Now you have to make the chase, and then survive the last 10 races. With the old system, a driver could have the championship locked up with a few races to go. Not suspenseful and not good for ratings. I like the new system.

The thrill is gone for 24. Somebody fed him and that is a damn shame. You're supposed to give the animal just enough food to keep him alive, not fatten him up. The dude has been tamed.

I don't think I have a favorite anymore but if I had to pick one I'd like to see 88 take it all home.

...and somehow stay hungry.

I'll pick Junior too but he really needs to step it up and start driving like Tony did last year in the chase. 88 first and then the 14. I can't stand the Busch brothers. Michael in Virginia

The Chase is, and always has been GARBAGE.

Junior and then the 14. Smoke has always reminded me of my favorite athlete....John Mc Enroe....he will cut his arm off to get a win.

It beats the old days where usually by about this point of the season one driver had pulled so far ahead of the pack that he pretty much didn't have to compete to win the championship. You couldn't have asked for a better (or closer) ending to a season for any sport than what Nascar had last year at Homestead.

He is like a train wreck waiting to happen.

I think the "Shrub" is even worse of a train wreck with anger management problems just as bad as the elder Busch. It looks to me like the media is not reporting on his outburts like they should.

I'm also sick and tired of Darrell Waltrip and Larry McReynolds (and others) constantly shilling for the 18 every chance they get (Remember their connection with Toyota?). The "He does this and that with a racecar that nobody else can possibly do!" and the "He reminds me of Dale Sr.!" crap is sickeningly pathetic sounding to me. Obvious pandering.

Nascar is the only sport that I follow, and I really do not take it very serious. I like Nascar because of the technology involved in the big picture. Unlike other popular sports involving some sort of ball to throw or kick around, Nascar is high tech. I like the way the rules of the sport change with the times, and as technology increases. One thing I think is ridiculous, is the way the media talks up sports celebrities to be some sort of hero or something. A person who drives a race car or plays a game of ball. Is not a hero.
I think it would be interesting if a Nascar team had more than one driver.
So a fan would be rooting more for their favorite team, not so much a driver.
Then with this chase format, it would really have the deserving championship team up on a pedestal. Not so much the lucky guy who drives the car. Crew chiefs, pit crews, and the people working back at the shops, etc. Would all be more recognized.
