All I'm really saying is that I don't think there has ever been a car in history that has offered what these cars do for the price, which to ME, makes it the best car ever, until it is dethroned. Quote:

Theory of relativity: Everything is relative to where you are now. Having said that, my favorite car of all time was an '83 VW GTi, Koni struts and springs dropped 1.5 inches, strut braces; performance wise was quicker than Camaros of that era; handled like it was on rails. It was great fun to drive in city traffic and on the interstate. Would I trade my wife's LT2/RS for it--not in a heartbeat, even if I could! Is the Camaro the ultimate car for me? Who knows; next year when I'm sixty-five I may decide it's time to act my age and graduate to a Buick!

Lambos suck. They just look cool. Have they ever won a race? do they even have a race team? Would I buy one if I had the money? Yes... To answer OP's original question: there are plenty of cars that are cheaper/better than the 5th gen. The fifth gen is a great car, but as far as handling/performance goes... Id probably have more fun in a scion FRS, or a similar import. But the fifth gen is a great car, and I love mine to death!

This is the best car ever made in my opinion
![]() Asking to name the best car ever in the Camaro's price range is like asking to pick the hottest girl ever in the 200+ lb range. |

I understand where you are trying to go with this.... but its so subjective... for example you are complete leaving out versatility.
I can do WAY more in my beat up, old, paid for pick up than I can in the Camaro, and have a ton of fun. I mean I wouldnt want to take the Camaro back in some field and play in the mud, or take it hunting and toss a dear in the trunk. You see what I am saying. But... IF I were to have a FAVORITE, car of all time, it would have to be the ICONIC 1969 Charger. I mean who doesnt want to be a Duke boy? Who's with me?

At age 22, the background for your preferences is considerably different from mine. I'm under the impression that you absolutely expect an outward appearance to impress, high-tech features, and a priority on safety. For those last two, that's at least partly because that's the direction cars have been generally moving for your whole life, so you likely don't know any different. My perspective is quite a bit different from yours, and I'd weight things differently. Much differently in the cases of "features" (I'd rather just drive) and "safety" (I've managed quite well, including several years' time in cars that had one or more serious safety issues). When I was 22, such things either didn't exist at all, or if they did in infantile form they didn't really register. Today, having "before" and "after" experience I've got a better idea of what's important to me as a driver than if I'd never seen the "before" side personally. The best car for you at any point in your life may be the one that you go into buying with full confidence that you'll still be happy enough with it 5 years later to still enjoy and truly want to keep. As to your list of criteria specifically and sticking to U.S. domestics, I would think that the current Mustangs and Challengers actually rank pretty close on most points. If you value a truly unique driving experience above all else, try a Caterham 7 with the 190-ish HP option. Norm |

.I have owned over 100 cars in my lifetime. Each of them had bits and pieces of the accolades you espoused of in your post. None of them had all. My honest opinion? My 1989 Mustang LX was the best bang for the buck. $12k (fairly inexpensive for the time) got you 225hp (14 second car), good looks for the era, A/C, power windows/locks, a sunroof, and a set of Eagle GT tires. I believe Motor Trend touted it as best bang for the buck that year. Anyway, my 2SS has impressive features for sure. But it fails in many areas, too. Sorry, but until you've owned a number of cars, you have no grounded experience in what the world has to offer for different types of cars.
