LaCrosse is FAR more expensive than the Taurus will be and the Taurus will be aimed at middle class families and not older couples wanting a smooth car.

Also, how can it blow it away when the new Taurus isnt even out yet? Current models, yes. The new ones, I think Im gonna have to put my cash on the 2010 Taurus outselling everything.
In his defense, if Lutz wasn't at GM, we wouldn't have a lot of new cars that we currently have...including the Camaro.

The Taurus will indeed outsell the Impala and LaCrosse.

I agree with you but he oversaw way too many medicore cars keep being made. IE: The old Malibu. It should of been redesigned almost 5 years instead of just 2. The bread and butter cars is what he really screwed up. You dont make money on a GTO, G8 or Camaro. So far this year the new Malibu has sold over 40k cars.

Last year they sold almost 180k but still didnt make a dent in the Camry which sold 440k. All of those years of bad cars has caught up with GM.

From what i've seen of the Taurus, it might sell a little better, but it's not blowing anyone away. Besides, Chevrolet can't expect sales of the Impala to be tremendous. They need to sell lots of Malibu's. That's the size of car people are buying (Accord, Altima, Camry). I still think converting the G8 to an Impala makes sense. They could built it alongside the Camaro. Same platform. New car instantly. Probably more sales to Police Departments, with the rear wheel drive. They can still put a small V6 in it for economy.

They could just stick the Camaro's 3.6L SIDI HF V6 in there. Should get close to 29 MPG.

I think that is the plan for the 2010 year. IE Last MY for the G8.

2012's expected to be the last model year for the G8 unless something's changed.

And we still can't confirm the SIDI engine for the G8...

Are they going to sell G8s at other GM dealerships as the lone Pontiac car?

Why bring back an old name if they turned the G8 into a Chevy, why not give it a name all new to itself?

Yeah, it has changed then. I was going off an older source on GMI.

And any plans to sell Pontiacs through Chevy dealers or any other dealers is basically dead.

I just meant they seem to be resistant to rwd for fuel economy reasons. (which makes no sense) , but they could always put an even smaller V6 in it for a base engine, and maybe get an even higher city mpg number.
