The Constitutional rights you speak of are all subject to interpretation. They change sometimes overnight on a case by case basis and who is sitting on the bench that day. Sounds to me like you are a "HATER" and have this distorted view that all cops are just running around with reckless abandoned armed to the teeth to violate everyone's rights and you are absolutely postively wrong. A law, giving an untrained person the right to use for against the police because they "think" their rights are being violated is going to end in the bad column....period. I can tell you that when we enter any home its with good reason and in "good faith". So a person who is at home can use force against a SORT team because he thinks their search warrant may not be valid??? So some lawyer later on can pick and pull at strings to find some loophole to make something technically invalid.....Bulls---.....mark my words... using any kind of force against those guys is going to end in a bad day. I wish I had a dime for every time someone I deal with says I am doing something against their rights and they are wrong...I'd be retired and comfortable by now for sure. Most people have some pretty far out perceptions about what their rights are and what they are not. If you don't know why the police have become more heavily armed then you have been hiding under a rock somewhere. I can tell you from the experience of my area the criminals are far better armed than I am....its always nice to go back and look at security footage and find out that you and another officer were withing 10 seconds of engaging a "Bloods" gang member who was standing around the crowd at a fight with a loaded AK-47 which thank god has now been recovered. I run around with a Glock on my hip and a Remington 870 in the trunk while they have Tech 9s, Uzis, SKSs and God knows what else...yeah the odds are even sure...sarcasm.... Get into a fire fight whether simulated or real and see how long 3 clips lasts you....obviously you haven't been under that kind of stress...you'll be praying for every bullet you can get your hands on. You obviously don't have a clue....go suit up and come out into the streets with me and we will see who is frightened and wants more equipment. I don't care who you are, what you are trained to do, or how much of a badass you claim to be....there always going to be situations you can't handle. We'll let you go handle a person on PCP or high on "bath salts" or hell even a normal person that has just gone thru a total mental breakdown where they don't react to pain and have superhuman strength...come on out and have fun with that....then you'll know why we have equipment.... you will be asking for everything you can get your hands on..... your self proclaimed cop buddy may agree with you....but ask him if he would like it or what would happen if he goes into house with what he believes is a valid reason and is met with force because the homeowner believes improperly that his rights are being violated...... guarantee he will deal with the force as necessary and someones going to get hurt...guaranteed. I know that because we are trained to survive and win every situation to go home to our families at night...every single time without exception. NO ONE I'm dealing with is going to put their hands on me or another officer without them paying the price for it. Your "buddy" should agree with that also... Trust me....I understand the importance for the police to do the right thing and the protection of rights, but there are different remedies and sanctions in place to deal with it especially when the situations are subject to review and interpretation to determine if they are a violation or not....not by allowing the introduction of force that will end up with unnecessary injury and/or death to either party. Guess we will just have to see what happens when the first challenge of the law comes up...I just hope that someone doesn't have to lose their life to find out. And before you get the notion to post that I am just a heavy handed cop on a power trip with a chip on my shoulder...II won't pat myself on the back....I invite you to PM anyone I post with in the Mid Atlantic fourm who has either met me in a professional and/or personal setting or ScottyB911 who has actually rode with me on duty. I am confident they will tell you that I am about as easy going as you can get. I pride myself in being on this job for the right reason and always doing the right thing. I have more fingers than I have use of force reports in my 11 yrs on the job. Plus, check my posts for any of these threads about cops and tickets that are still around. You will see that I always provide advice, help, or insight to any Camaro5 member who had some sort of experience with the police.... to help break down the "Us vs. Them barrier".

Btw they've had a recent fad of gangs of armed thugs busting into houses shouting "Police!" so I'm not one to take chances with my life, especially if I know I haven't done anything to be arrested for. I'm gonna grab a gun and hunker down and wait to see who is busting in the door before I make a decision about giving up and throwing my hands in the air. Either way, you are right that it could end badly for someone. But I'm not getting robbed and murdered in my own home. Much less assaulted by a man that's supposed to know and uphold the law. You may think I'm trying to talk like I'm a badass but I'm really not. Just trying to communicate my point here. Which I'm not doing well lol. I do respect what you do and I know most cops are good guys. Trust me I know quite a few of them. But not all I them are perfect. This my reasoning for feeling how I feel about my rights. I know my rights and they will not be infringed upon. And that's straight from the constitution, no need to interpret lol |

Fair enough.......and yeah I don't walk on water and no one worships me on Sunday....far from perfect. glad that you know your rights and I hope you never have them violated or your house stormed.....just wish that everyone was as well educated. Oh, and just a bit of advice....practice a lot on getting to your firearms if you are ever broken into.....from my experience of investigating home invasions around here.....even when drug dealers do a home invasion style robbery on other drug dealers who are armed to the teeth (normally)...the victims (whose home it is) have never had time to get to their guns and arm themselves....they normally get an a--- beatin' and robbed....good luck.

Yeah. Me too. And I don't walk on water either. Hell I think a church might burst into flames if I was to actually enter it but I'm not a criminal either and I love to be in the know on my liberties and what's going on with them. Especially since I do have my concealed carry and carry a handgun regularly. Nice to know the laws when you carry.

SILVERHAWK gets a thumbs up because I was a recent customer of his camaro love
not an excuse to break the law just saying it was pretty awesome to have your car get you out of a hefty ticket
