So cops ride around in Challengers up North? I only see them in new and older model Chargers here in Ga.

Police are not magical special people- they are ordinary human beings like you and me, and have all the flaws that entails. Plenty of people in this world are jerks, and police are no different. Needless to say, corruption exists within the police, and is a serious problem, albeit in some police forces more so than others. Part of the reason for this is that police often know people in relevant legal and administrative bodies and can hence get out of trouble. Police also often cover for one another.... but I would rather not go in to it any further. Just as Dooley stated.... it is a "cop shop".

There is nothing wrong with telling them how ya feel. I most likely would not have had as much restraint as the OP and would have fallen for the bait so i would be facing a ticket but if saw this was a unmarked and was trying to hook me, I would have started to follow him and told him to stop tailgating and instigating. When i see the police around my hood running lights or stop signs i say something and I also praise them when they do well. Police are good when they play by the rules as well!

I am 50 yrs old, owned a funnycar, am a crew chief on a funnycar, and work at a drag strip, and know where and when to race. As I got to the next intersection, he blew past me on the left, on a two lane street, and that's when I saw that it was a North Brunswick unmarked car. Must have been pissed off I didn't take the bait!!
It's not whether it's entrapment or not that bothers me. It's the fact that a law enforcement officer who's main concern is the safety of others driving with disregard for your safety.

Each state has a law that states how close you are allowed to be to another car and not to mention he was distracting you from giving your full attention to the road. If it would have been me I would have been concerned that the driver was drunk, crazy, or just road raging.

I have law enforcement in my family and have the utmost respect for our police. When they do things like that though it baffles me as to why they would endanger the public like that.

I applaud law enforcement for doing their best to keep our streets safe. Endangering your safety trying to goad you isn't the way to keep others safe.

Let's say he was successful and got you to race him. At the next light you were so focused on him you gassed it when the light turned green and a person stepped into the street who for any number of reasons and you hit them, or if you lost control of your car trying to race him and took out a group of people??

The person driving that unmarked car needs to re-evaluate his or her tactics.

I would have gotten his plate or car number, then went to the police station and like Barney Fife, yelled "Citizen's arrest ..... citizen's arrest!!!!!"

His passing you on a two way city street was a very dangerous act on his part. What if some drunk had staggered out between some parked cars? Or someone in a parked car opened their car door? How's the cop going to explain that?

Unless they are engaged in an actual police emergency, cops have to follow the rules of the road also. I don't know any state that allows passing another vehicle on a two way city street.

Many of the squad cars in town here actually have a switch that turns off one of the headlights. Then of corse you'd never think it a Police car behind you with a head light out. I know this being a former Police Reserve.
