Not defending the man but would guess they will explain it away as they were always mistaken to have been deformed by radioactive goo but at some point learned they were aliens and that goo was from the mother??? That did effect a rat[alien growth hormon], or is that rat an alien too, a protector of sorts, who also encourage the wrong myth of their orgins so they felt at home???
