I am a huge Aliens fan so I made sure to see this tonight. Obviously everyone has a different taste in movies but I didn't like it. In my opinion they tried way to hard to make something different yet pertain to Aliens and their origin.

Remember that Ridley Scott has repeatedly said this movie has NOTHING to do with Alien/Aliens. So many people are going in with that expectation, and that's why they are not happy. The movie, on it's own is a very good science fiction flick with only the thinnest "Alien" veneer over it.

I would consider a film that shows the origin of the humanoid Aliens and the "space jockey" seen in the Alien film to be about Alien/Aliens.

I just got back a bit ago.....I LOVED IT.....and can't wait to see the next installment.

The story truely brough together a few aspects of the story......I'm sure it will be about 2 to 2-1/2 years till the next one.....but there ya go.

So...the beginning scene, was the symbolic of anything? Maybe a suicide for what was created or was he just like shit- I was left behind?

I was thinking the same thing......it truely had no true connection to teh rest of the movie.......even on teh way home I was talking with my other half adn told her...."the opening sceen made no sence"

Pretty sure that was showing the Engineers uh... engineering life on Earth. His broken DNA started as the catalyst for life. Or something.

I believe it was to signify that the engineer was seeding earth (or another planet) with life.
