my family is all german save for my great great grandmother on my mom's side. she's polish. basically most of my moms side of the family came over before WWI and my dad's side came over before WWII. so with the exception of the polish part, id fit the aryan stereotype to a T. lol (and yes I have blond hair and blu eyes...lol) but im not racist...or am I? lol

I don't even know that many people that would fall under the 'other' or 'mutt' options. We're almost ALL a bit of 'mutt'. But being a mix of anything European even if there's a tiny bit of say American Indian or something doesn't classify you as other or mutt. If you check off 'Caucasion' or 'White' when asked for race, you fall under the European option... WillInThe04Ranger, your description falls much more under the European option than other or mutt.

So, how many of those that chose 'other' are essentially caucasion?

I'm 1/4 Irish, and 3/4 British...in other words, I'm as white as they come...it explains my inability to dance.

I was a sociology major for my undergrad so forgive me for getting all intellectual here, but the general consensus in academia is that 'race' is a social construction. In other words it exists only because we objectively make a distinction. However, there is more genetic variation within so-called 'races' (Asian, African, Caucasian etc) than between them. So the more acceptable term is ethnicity.

I kind of think we should restart the pole. Having ancestors from multiple European countries doesn't make you multi-raicial.

Rather then the apparently confusing option of 'European' it should just list it as 'Caucasion'. Then less people would think they were a mutt when they aren't. LOL
