$5 would be cheap. They're between $6.5 and $7 here. I've paid as high as $7.60. Washington has very high cigarette prices too. I think I paid like $8 a pack two years ago when I was there on a business trip.

yeah, basically. my dad told her he can't stand the smoke, and that if she didn't quit, they couldn't be together.

I quit on December 18th 2011, 2 1/2 weeks ago.
I've been smoking for over 40 years and have quit for short periods over that amount of time.
About ten years ago, I went from cigarettes to those little filtered cigars.

Only problem is, I was inhaling the cigars which is probably worse than inhaling the cigarettes.
I was just kidding myself with the cigars.

I quit because I have 2 small grandchildren and another coming next month.
They are the joy of my life and I want to be around for them as long as I can.

I quit cold turkey......It's been almost 3 weeks and I'm over the worst of it (I think)
I haven't even had one puff since Dec. 18th.
I really don't see myself ever smoking again.

Went to NY city last summer. Forgot to bring my own cigarettes. Ended up paying over 10.00 per pack.

In my twenties I could put the smokes down for a day/week/month at a time without hesitation. Tried in my mid 30s and couldn't go longer than half a day before the addiction got to be too much; smoked an entire pack that night.

Four years ago I got Chantix (http://www.chantix.com/) and have been smoke free ever since.

With Chantix the thought of having a smoke was there all the time the first couple of months, but the overwhelming urge to go and buy a pack or light one up was not there.

Hey you quitters, good luck with it. I quit almost 10 years ago and very happy I did. Now when I smell cigarettes on someone it's like "YUK" and honestly I don't think I could even kiss a smoker it's such a horrible nasty smell.

I quit smoking but i just smoked when I drank

You will be glad you quit smoking.

You are very young. You probably will look younger later on if you stop smoking now.

I have heard many women say they are quitting smoking for that very reason.

But also consider: When you EVER do something successful in life, I can assure you that EVERY success just leads you on a path of MORE AND MORE success.

Once you see that you can defeat that "addiction", you might find out you can do practically anything.

quitting smoking is probably the highest-level type of success anyone can do especially if you were a genuine hard-core smoker prior to quitting.
