I'm not against guns or anything, but it sure must suck to live somewhere that you feel you need to have a gun hidden in your car.
Hopefully you don't have kids riding in your cars with you.

Much better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it!

Yes. Section 46.02, Texas Penal Code was amended to allow a person to carry a handgun in a motor vehicle that is owned by the person or under his/her control. The weapon must not be in plain view, and the person must not be engaged in criminal activity other than a Class C misdemeanor that is a violation of a law or ordinance regulating traffic. Finally, a person carrying a handgun in his/her car must not be prohibited by law from possessing a firearm and the person cannot be a member of a criminal street gang as defined in Section 71.01."

"48. What does concealed mean? Can I carry my handgun in plain view?

No. The weapon can't be visible, and its presence can't be discern¬ible through ordinary observation."

"Can I carry a handgun without a license while driving or traveling in a motor vehicle?

Effective September 1, 2007, a person who can legally possess a firearm may possess or carry a handgun in a motor vehicle (including a recreational vehicle with living quarters) that is owned by or under the lawful control of the person. However, the firearm must be concealed, the person may not be engaged in criminal activity, and may not be a member of a “criminal street gang.” The person may also carry the handgun to and from his vehicle without a license. See Texas Penal Code § 46.02 (a). However, DPS recommends that you seek the advice of an attorney with any questions regarding the unlicensed carrying of weapons."

The pictures you posted are not considered "concealed". TX law allows loaded concealed weapons in vehicles. Operative word....concealed Ie. Glovebox, closeable center console, trunk, etc. A good rule of thumb is if you can see it from ANYWHERE OUTSIDE the vehicle, it's in plainview. The pics you posted...are plainview.

Spunky Monkey, like the others have said, awesome!

The OP's gun is a Glock, and it appears the trigger is back, indicating the gun has an empty chamber, so it is relatively safe, the slide would have to be cycled to chamber a round.

I agree, it is not the best place to put a gun, I would not feel comfortable with it, but it is better than sliding around on the floor or across the dash!

Put her there!

I don't have mine "stuck" somewhere, I keep the damm thing on me where it's suppose to be. I find no discomfort with this.

I hope all who carry weapons in their vehicles, take them out when they park in public. Too many weapons fall in the hands of bad people from people who leave them in their locked vehicles.

Just don't pop the hood in a hurry - you might just pop the steering column at the same time.

How securely does it stay in there? You don't want it to go flying out of there if you stop suddenly.

No,... my way of thinking is supported by over 19 years of law enforcement training and experience. If an officer spots a firearm in the open within reach of a subject, the officer needs to react quickly. I am all for the right to carry laws. BUT,... use common sense and follow the law and concel it and then infom the officer when he makes contact with you. Its typically the "bad guys" who feel the need to keep the gun out in the open and as close to their trigger finger as possible, or just people who are just not thinking how it appears to LEO"s. Actually,... you are correct that alot of LEO's don't see it comming, but some do and need to be safe. And don't confuse what i'm stating either. I am all for responsible and legal and SAFE right to carry laws, but the manner that the OP listed as a holster would not be a responsible, legal or a safe way to carry. Matter of fact in over 19 years as a LEO I would estimate that 99% of the people who carry do it in a responsible manner, and I like the fact that there is a large majority of responsible armed citizens out there that makes the bad guys wander if the next person they try to victimize is one of the responsible citizens who have a CCW.
