I couldn't believe what I saw in there. It was a 3000 sq ft 2 story house, with boxes of stuff, stacks of magazines, etc. etc. literally stacked almost to the ceiling in every room. There were just narrow pathways from room to room. It was really creepy.

I just don't get why anyone would want to live that way. I look for reasons to throw stuff out or take stuff to good will, not reasons to keep stuff.

Yeah, I think it takes a special person to deal with hoarders. I always wonder how the people on that show don't just go on a garbage purge and just throw out EVERYTHING. Obviously, the people can't help it... it is a mental disorder, but still very sad. And even worse is like you said, you sometimes can't tell from the outside.

When I first saw that show, I did a massive spring cleaning and threw away ANYTHING I could. And I don't even have much stuff!

Besides poaching deer on our sixty acres, our next door neighbors have run mad in the last ten years. The dad-- we will call him Larry-- tried to be a preacher and make his own church. It was more like a cult, with about 9 people who attended (including his wife and five children) so that didn't last. Now he has decided to be a musician and spends all hours of the night in the barn banging on his drums. His wife, who is also quite mad, spends her days in her garden or bathing her chickens in their swimming pool.
