wow! is that a Mazda 3 hatchback?

My wife has that exact car. A little over a month ago, 3 days before our wedding, she was driving through a green light and a guy turned left into her. Hit her driver side front fender and bounced her into the light pole. The whole front end was crushed right up to the firewall, but she walked away with just a few bruises from the seatbelt and a small burn on her wrist/arm from the airbag. She figures she was doing about 65-70 km/hr when it happened. I was very impressed with that car because the windshield didn't even crack. Everthing from firewall back was pristine. The doors were a little harder to open but that was about it. But most importantly she was completely fine. We went straight out and bought another one with the insurance money.

Then when I went to the salvage yard to clean out the old car and get all her stuff out of it, I saw a burned out Volvo station wagon that had a car seat in the back and all the seatbelts were cut... That made me shiver

Nope, a Mazda 5 (small minivan). It's just a "bit" shorter now

My point should be taken though. The gov. shouldn't be able to force us.

Oh, and to back you up, when we were at C5FI and you and me drove around the fest grounds to announce the car show you even had me put my belt on even though we weren't going on the road. And you had yours on.

Once we've decided it's ok to make us do things for our own good, there's no end to it. You can see it playing out that way even now.

Look at all the smoking bans. That's been almost universally successful, so they're attacking fast food now.

Pretty soon, you'll have a list of do's and dont's inside your own home. Don't think so? I bet 30 years ago, no one thought the government would be able to tell you what to do inside your own car either.

Had a friend in the car, I put on my seatbelt, they didn't. So I sat and waited so they showed me some stuff on their iPhone. Then I said "seatbelt", they put it on and said "were you waiting this whole time for that?" I said "yup." They replied "oh, you're one of those guys."

Needless to say I am not enthralled with the idea of this individual in my car again, nor ever riding in a car with him.

I"m sure he didnt' have a problem putting it on. So why are you worried about him riding again? Just tell him to put it on.
