O ya, I grabbed the wrong quote. My mistake. Your good. I just cant stand to see someone act like that, when someone died. He probably was a great kid, just make a huge mistake, and .... Well, I don't want to rant. But enough with the names from the guy with the mouth. That's someone's kid.

This was unfortunately a pretty common sight back around the late 1960s. Soldiers home on leave prior to heading to 'Nam. This makes me sad from all points of view. R.I.P. soldier. :(

This is sad and tragic for the family dealing with the emotions of war and hoping for safe return to this happening.

I have pics from almost the exact same wreck that happened here in NC March 2010, a soilder comes home, had a new Camaro, and took his GF on a ride in excess of 100mph and lost it.. flipped and hit a tree upside down.. car caught fire, he was trapped and she was thrown out... sadly both died onscene.

Hopefully anybody that see's this stuff will think twice before doing something like this, these cars are awesome.... but not built for 120+ mph on back country roads.

This is what i posted on that page. After being disgusted by some of the comments left. Not one single person can say they have never made a really dumb decision in their life.

I do not know this young man. But, I am a Michigan native. Have several family members currently serving or retired USMC & USAF. Beyond that i am the founder of Tampa Bay Camaros car club. I found this story from a Camaro forum i am a member of. I'd like to offer my condolences to the family and friends. This young man made a poor decision. He paid the ultimate price for it. This should not be the only thing that defines this young mans life. Some of you are here to mock and bash him for a terrible judgement lapse. He is dead you sorry ingrates. The reason you are here able to mock and bash him is a result of the sacrifice he and every other dead , retired or present US soldier made for YOU. If you cannot find even one decent thing to say about the guy or offer any condolences to his family and friends. Then just go kick rocks. Better yet, go strap up and head off to Afghanistan and kick some rocks while dodging some bullets and IED's. RIP Marine.

Sincerely, A fellow Camaro lover.

I've been thinking about what I wanted to say in this thread but you said it perfectly.

He wasted his own life, this is not a card that life delt him, like my brother in law dying of cancer right now or my girlfriends dad dying as well with a brain disease. This is just plain ignorance and stupidity.
Seeing as you can get a speeding ticket for going only 10 mph over, those previous tickets mean nothing other than he needs to be more mindful of the speed limit. was this accident his fault? yes. was he being stupid at the time? yes. but are you seriously gonna try to tell us that youre perfect? youve never made a mistake? This was a huge mistake, but that doesnt mean you can judge the guy by ONE mistake, no matter what it was. For gods sake, he was in the military, he was fighting for your ungrateful a$$ and the rest of america. And dude, saying that you care about a car more than a persons life, thats just plain mean.

Well you obviously have never been to a combat zone and had never had to deal with the stress of coming home. I have and I can tell you it's a he!! of a lot harder to deal with the stress of being home than it is to deal with the stress in combat. Some people can deal with it and others can't, thankfully I am able to deal with it but I have friends I went over with that couldn't handle it and the same thing happened and it doesn't mean they're stupid and unfortunately this fellow marine paid the ultimate price. The least you can do is show a little respect and keep your mouth shut about your comments.

That Camaro was just obliterated, sad story indeed. Life cut short by one bad mistake.

While serving in the US Navy in 1972 I purchased a 1966 Corvette convertible. I was 18 years old and owned this car for a total of 2 hours before I wrecked it! I was doing 130 and hit black ice. Rolled 3 times and ended up upside down on a drainage ditch. I was stupid but lucky! I think most of us have done some extremely foolish things in our lives....especially when you take a young male in a high performance car! I feel for this kid and his family!

Serving in the military and a persons patriotism has NOTHING to do with the outcome of this person. Sorry all, just because he served makes him no different than any other young driver on the road flirting with danger. Three speeding tickets since June, out drinking fiver hours prior to the crash and yet some of you defend those facts whether he served his country or not? Seriously? You won't get any remorse from me. I'm just thankful he didn't kill an innocent person or family in the process.

Sorry, but I gotta jump on the soapbox here. The Navy and Marine Corps have a lot of resources and mandatory training requirements upon returning from long deployments. Alcohol awareness and personal vehicle safety are the primary topics 99% of the time. A fair amount of ppl that sit in the training requirements just blow it off and say, "It will never happen to me." Guess what? They are the ones that end up in a scenario like this. In my 20+ year Navy career I have read story after story about incidents like this. The Naval Safety Center is constantly publishing messages and statistics of this nature emphasizing the importance of ongoing training. The sole responsibilty to make sure that training is put out is on the shoulders of the Commanding Officers. But, guess what? It has happend in the past, is happening currently and will continue to happen far into the future. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink.

Rant Off !!!

I don't agree or disagree with anyone in this thread to the people who say he deserved it; No one deserves to die, regardless of the fact that he acted like a complete douche and took a 120 MPH turn in a car that is clearly not capable of sustaining that. Hell I'm sure an SS wouldn't handle that either and to the people that are acting like he was a hero, sure maybe he fought for your country but he didn't die a hero, he died a drunk driving moron. Sure we all do stupid stuff but I can safely say I have never drove drunk. It's just common sense, one of those things we are told not to do but for some reason there is a minority of people that decide it's perfectly acceptable to put other peoples lives in danger. He made one absolutely stupid CHOICE (Drinking and Driving is not a mistake people it is a Choice) and now he is dead. He risked his life for his country and survived only to kill himself foolishly.

Regardless of the fact this mans family deserves all the support in the world at this point in time and there is no reason for me to believe that he was a great guy. Rest In Peace

Were you there when the breathalizer was read? We all agree it was not the best choice, but have enough respect for the dead kid to leave the mud slinging out of it. You don't know all the facts.

In that case I will also, assume neither do you. I believe some of the words I used were harsh and I apologize but I am still opinionated like many of us are.
