True, but he is doing what he can to help this country. Inlike bush ass spending billions on a pointless war. we wouldnt be in this situation if it wasnt for him.

HEY ! No politics. I can't stand Obama but I didn't say that here. I agree that "backing" warranties is a smart move to help new car sales. I also agree (obviously) that a structured bankruptcy should be on the table. IMO, it is the most viable way out. +2 for Obama this morning.

We can say we agree or disagree with this plan without bringing politics into it or trying to place blame... I suggest everyone please keep on topic by just talking about what you do / don't like about the plan and not about the person and not get this thread closed with stupid political statements.

O.K. - so the government will pay for warranty work on my new Camaro if something fails -even if the company goes under? Great work Obama! Now...if GM is gone, what is my Chevrolet dealer down the street going to be selling to stay in business?? Where exactly will the person who actually knows something about my new 6-speed transmission going to be working? Without GM and it's dealer network, where is Mr. Obama going to have my car repaired under warranty? And if GM goes under, we have been told numerous times that the parts suppliers will be going down with them...so where are parts for my car going to come from? GM's bankruptcy will force suppliers out too...the trickle effect will be a FLOOD.

So, Mr. Obama...HOW and WHERE do you plan on getting my new GM car repaired if you let GM, it's Suppliers, and the Dealer network go down the tubes? And where you getting the money for the repairs???

It seems pretty obvious he isn't going to let the General go under- Chrysler, that's another story. Good question as to how those warranties would be handled...

I would guess you will take the car to the repair facility of your choice and when you do your taxes next year you will have a form to fill out to get reembursed for car repairs.. you provide the documentation and it will be added to your tax refund...

Keep drinking the Obama kool aid

The current administration is spending like NO other in American History. We are on a long dark road with no way out. It is only a matter of time before they spend past the point of no return.

Among the other socialist ideals, they are basically firing leaders in the private sector - any idea where this is leading?

Fighting with dealers was bad enough trying to get something covered under warranties...now we'll have to deal with the government... Grrrreat!

I can't really fight for the auto manufacturer's though. As much as I don't like this situation, they were given some money to try and turn themselves around...and they didn't fulfill their requirements in the eyes of the people handing out the money.
