I just don;t understand why some want to use the GT500 as the car to compare to the Camaro SS... They are not targeted to the same buyers...

The Mustang GT and Camaro SS are targeted at the same buyers and SHOULD be compaired...
The degree of specialization that you described is about the same as what happens to a Z06 Corvette. Hand built engine and special chassis.

As for your second and third points, I agree completely.

I'll agree to that, but somehow I doubt that all the mustang supporters will.

For the record the the AutoAlliance facility is Flatrock is a joint venture right down to the facility itself, with Ford in possession of 50% of the plant and Mazda in possession of the remaining 50%. Also worth mentioning, the facility is wholly managed by Ford Motor Company.

I agree, that is why i think the GT500 is targeted more at the Corvette Z06, and not the Camaro...

But nobody accuses the Z06 of not being a Chevy.

If the GT500 was closer to $40k I would consider it over the SS...just sayin'.

Where did I hear the originally the gt500 was finished off at shelby until recently(like the past year, before KR)? I'm pretty sure one of my diehard mustang friends told me that. Guess they were wrong. Or were they right?

They were wrong. There are almost as many misinformed Mustang drivers as there are Camaro fans.

the GT 500 is legit a Ford and legit production model. Thats why when motor trend this month was talking about the z 28 NOT BEING BUILT that camaro has no production equivelent to the GT 500

Screw that, anyone paying that much for a 2 year old Shelby doesn't deserve their money or such a fine car. 2 year old GT500's with 10K or less miles can be found on Autotrader in the mid to low 30K range, and no,i'm not talking the Shelby GT,these are the real deal 500HP supercharged 5.4 models...........45K

You can get a brand new gt500 right now for about $41K, maybe alittle less.

The GT500 is 45000 and I would still consider it the 2010 is gonna be fast!!
According to Motor Trend, Ford has given official numbers for the GT500.

0-60 in 4.3

1/4mi in 12.4 at 116mph!

I believe those are a slight bit conservative so yea its an awesome car!
