it's been expected, that gsrt8 is pretty damn expensive...wow. nice cars, I guess they are working on exclusivity over sales #'s. But hemi's have been the most expensive of the big 3 to own/modify since the beginning

The point I was trying to make is that it is ok on this Forum for GM to charge 40k for a 4 cylinder fwd, much smaller car that offers less performance, less size, less power and even has less features and is also less of a luxury car. And you are right, the SS is not in the same league the SRT models. Honestly, if GM actually offered a Zeta with all the Luxury, technology, power, and features of the SRT cars, that it would run any cheaper?

Thing is, if its rated under the current SAE testing protocols, it is NOT under rated any more (or less) than all the other cars that use that testing procedure, from 4 banger Camry's to 600+ hp sports cars. They all have to be producing within a certain percentage of advertised power in order to use the 'SAE Certified' claim. There is a bit of wiggle room, but not 30+ hp worth (unless perhaps you're at ~900 hp).

Also, tell me why you can't use a GT500 or ZL1 as an everyday car? The GT500 is essentially loaded from the factory (like the SRT8) and I would bet that the ZL1 will be as well. Sure, you can't fit 4 passengers in either of them but if I had to be hauling around that many people I wouldn't even think about getting a coupe. Maybe Challenger owners have never had to be a passenger in the back of a coupe, but in my experience its something that should be avoided if possible. And stuffing 3 people back there? I don't care how big the car is, I can guarantee you that they'll be unhappy unless they're small children. Even then, they probably won't like it.

You missed my point, but got my point at the same time in the second paragraph. The reason why a Camaro or Mustang is less usable as a everyday driver is simply listed in the rest of your second paragraph. the bigger cars are also going to be better in the ride department and do offer features not even vailable in the Mustang, let alone the Camaro, such as adaptive crise control, 19 ispeaker sopund system, a true navigation system with a harddrive, adaptive suspension, etc, etc, it just a different car with a different mission and worth the price of addmission period. As for using a coupe to haul people, i used to all the time in my old Thunderbirds, and I never got complaints, but it was a big car with a big backseat.

Only thing I can figure is because the Challenger offers the 6 speed with rates slightly lowe on the MPG rating than the auto.
