But that doesn't mean that he won't be driving it. Just making sure that he doesn't take the Viper as a toy since it seems as if that's what he's doing, even if inadvertently.

See you do not understand. Don't take this as me bashing you, but there is no such thing as "for transporation" when it comes to a Viper.

Couple of things. Spending $100k++ on any car should be looked at as an investment. Having this kind of money means it was once invested and acquired wisely. Presented with similar circumstances, I would invest in a car that would appreciate rather than depreciate.
You could buy a '69 Camaro COPO ZL1 for that kind of money and watch it zoom in value once this recession ends... someday.
I am concerned that the OP's grandmother is dying yet "future decisions" seems to focus on what are considered unobtainable dream cars for most of us. The Lambo and Viper will be there in the future, grandma won't.
I am concerned about how these "future decisions" will affect the OP in the future. Here we have a 16 yr old with a Camaro and a F150 who lives with a dad who freely spends money on exotics. Even if you can afford it, consumerism and materialism needs to be balanced with moderation.
Living large is not setting the best example for this young and impressionable mind.
Life is not "having anything I want whenever I want it".

You would be foolish to think that spending $100K+ on ANY car is an investment. Spending that kind of money just means you have plenty disposable income to buy that kind of car.

Worry about yourself then. I apologize to be blunt but I am offended with what you have said. The I'm worried about the cars more than my grandmother - her cancer has been entirely removed and her lung is healing; its a terrible feeling knowing at most she may have 10 years ahead of her. I know it may seem odd to you, but you don't live in the same fashion and it's a different situation. I love my grandmother and helped dad pick out a DTS for her this week. who are you to say what life is? I never said I can have anything at any time, and you do not know my personal life; so please do not judge me off of the >100 posts you could have read about me. I apologize for the beginning because I wrote until I was out if steam and erased it because you put a lot of pain back in my eyes mentioning she won't be there; but anyway thanks for the input. I like the Z06 a little better than the Viper for driveability and exterior appearance. Vote!

+ 1. And don't worry, your grandma will live for another fifty years

Now, I'm glad you're not being arrogant when it comes to the viper because it can seriously hurt without proper training and experience. So you can grab it, but I personally don't recommend driving until you've taken a class.

You're still indecisive, however, and that worries me. Go read posts on a Z06 forum and a viper forum, do anything to experience the feelings associated with the ownership of both vehicles and go from there.

Also, you have to make sure that it's a car you can handle in terms of power, negative attention that you'll receive and remember, NEVER STREET RACE OR DO SOMETHING YOU OTHERWISE WOULDN'T DO BECAUSE OF PEER PRESSURE.

Good Luck

Wow. Every time I finished a thread, I thought to myself "The next one will be someone flaming him." And to my amazement, it has remained really civil, I'm impressed. Whoever said a Viper is "Not Transportation" was absolutely correct. Your looking at this situation like its going to be your daily driver. Those are all special cars that will demand respect and care. I would follow the advice already given. Research them both, see which one seems to "Fit" your family, and what your desires are. Dont pick one because the members of C-5 say "Get That one."

Personally, I think if your life allows for you to actually have this descision, you dont have too much to worry about. Is there really a wrong choice with that descision?

I guess you haven't taken a visit over to the Viper forums then...plenty of people use it as a DD. And still respect and care for it like it's a showpiece or something.

Anyway - sad news. I found my dad looking at another DTS for himself. It is a great and comfortable car - but a HUGE switch from what I was expecting. He said he doesn't want a sports car that is American. I'll update when whatever happens -> happens.
