If there are no more shuttle missions, how are they planning to go back and forth to the space station?

Are they planning to go to the ISS covertly with the high tech planes we already have ? (Will we send that new LITTLE shuttle we built ? )

Are they going to include the general public in their future endevours ?

America isn't the only country that works on the ISS. Russia operates it as well. So Russia will operate it while we're taking a 'break' ( I fully believe that the space program will be back one day. ).

We're going to pay the Russians for seats on their Soyuz rockets for now.

Also the government is giving money to private aerospace companies that are developing launch vehicles like Space X. Space X has won the contract to develop the successor to the shuttle. The plan is, these private companies will be able to get our astronauts into space (to and from the ISS) a lot cheaper than the STS. So, for the near future NASA is kind of out of the human space flight business which I think SUCKS!

It'll be sad to see NASA go. :(

Nobody cares?? I care.
I've been part of the shuttle team since the return to flight mission STS 114 in 2005, and worked with NASA since 1994. It's a shame that the shuttle is going away before we have a replacement. America has been the leader in space for 40 + years and now we're just going to give our domincance in space away.

NASA's annual budget is less than 1% of the total federal budget and has been since the early 90's when it was just over 1%. Even in the Apollo days it never got over 5%. People always think that NASA cost the american people so much money when it really doesn't.
