El Caminos are like mullets - everything starts out fine but it ends in disappointment (plus I think you need to have a mullet to drive one).

Front end - yup. Bed?!!!! Hell no.

Sorry, not interested. It's one of those vehicles that you want your brother to own so that you can borrow it when you need to haul something, not one that you want in your garage.

Keep in mind... Camaro's go with mullets just the same.

An Ute in America could represent a unique opportunity for GMC. By introducing the Ute as a GMC-exclusive product, people who clamored for an end to the brand during restructuring and who still rightly claim GMC products are too similar to Chevrolet counterparts will finally have a product exclusive to the brand. By not calling it an El Camino, GM sheds the trashy image—you know that one people have about Camaro and El Camino drivers with mullets and all—that goes with El Camino drivers. Also, making it a GMC means that the product doesn't have to look like a classic El Camino, giving GMC the freedom to design the product from scratch or essentially rebadge the imported Ute.

I could use one, especially if it was a small diesel that got 40mpg like the old Rabbit pickup.

Had one of these for years, and before you go hating, I live 20 miles from town, if I want a loaf of bread or a tractor part I can hop in my 10mpg pickup ($20 loaf of bread), or something like this. (I'll always have a large pickup for the big jobs, but it's overkill most of the time.)

I know it was a GMT360 but the SSR never did so hot and it had similar cargo capacity to ute or old school El Camino (sans the fact GMT360 could tow more because it was a truck chassis). Personally I'd be interested because it would be a little bit everything I want; cargo capacity, rear drive and decent size engine.

True, but the SSR was also marketed as a "sport truck," which again, is the biggest niche market ever.
