Nice looking car! I've only seen a couple around where I live, but they sure turns heads even in blue.

As for the warranty, it's only lifetime if Dodge is still in business. I hope all Detroit's manufacturers come through these times okay.

If you are worried about lifetime warranties, don't get the SRT-8. IIRC, they don't offer that on SRT's.

As for waiting for a better deal on the Camaro, I'm sure some would be glad to pay a little more (still meaning MSRP or less) now to get that attention you are experiencing now when driving.:tweetz:

It's very likely by the fall we will have a GT500, 2SS Camaro and a Challenger SRT-8 in the gargage(s) along with the Aspen and the '65 Fastback. Life is looking good!
Dang, you guys got all the toys!

There were a few things that turned me off from an SRT-8.

1. Price - they're very expensive for the performance you get. The research I did showed a mildly modified R/T had more power and a brake upgrade would get you the stopping performance as well. This can all be done for WAY less than an SRT-8.

2. There was no employee pricing on the SRT-8 making it about $10,000 more than the R/T I picked up.

3. There is no lifetime powertrain warranty on the SRT-8.

4. Insurance was quite a bit more for the SRT-8.

So I'd say really do your research and choose wisely. Stock dyno numbers show the SRT-8 to only have about a 30HP advantage over the R/T and the SRT-8 is heavier to boot.

I asked what happened to the warranty if Dodge went under and was told that it would be transferred to authorized service centers. Not sure if that's accurate or not, and I didn't read the fine print on it either. Like I said, mine may get modified anyway.

The attention is kind of funny I gotta say.

I agree if I was going to get a Challenger it would be an R/T and not an SRT-8

If you don't mind my asking what was the sticker price on the R/T and what did you end up paying for it? (minus tax/title/license/misc stuff, just the price of the car itself after discounts/rebates)

That's one hell of a deal! Don't blame you for taking it. It's gonna be quite a while til something like that shows up for a Camaro.

My stock SS might beat your stock R/T in the 1/4 but you'll definately have me beat on APR and price paid, lol.

I would have bought a R/T too if the camaro wasn't being made shortly.

Haha, yeah but I can take the money I saved and put that towards some "upgrades and modifications" to level the playing field

In all seriousness, I'll bet the Camaro will be a quicker car....but the Challenger has more mojo. It's all boils down to what you want in the ride.

Oddly, the Camaro produces 51 more HP, but only 7 more ft/lbs of torque? Combine that with the 3.92 gears in the Challenger and I think it'll make for some interesting contests of speed.

Isn't that 3.92 ?

Nice ride!!! I kept considering the Challenger too, but then every time I saw a pic of the Camaro I changed my mind again. I just LOVE the look of the new Camaro, probably more than any car I've ever seen. Also, I keep hearing reports of the Challenger being kind of "big" and I prefer a smaller/medium-sized car. I had a 2002 Stratus Coupe, and I loved the size of that, and the "sporty" look to it. I always hated the sedans, they just never looked right. I probably would've bought a Charger if it was 2-door, but as it is I just don't like the look of it. Now I have a 2008 Fusion SEL w/ sport package, just to have something cheap to pass the time as I wait for my Camaro. I actually like the Fusion quite a bit, though I'm not too big on the 4-door look... but the 3.0L sure rides nice.

Anyways, I'm pretty stoked about my Camaro...
