Fen is correct. I love my car, but it cost GM a lot of $$ and was never going to be profitable. Cars were hand-built to a large extent and from a mfg perspective a nightmare.

I owned a 2008 Sol GXP...my list.

Pros
- Great fuel economy (34 avg highway)
- Top down cruising (pretty easy to use top)
- Decent performance stock. Much better performance with tune and bolt-ons. (0-60 under 5, 1/4 under 13 secs)
- Excellent ride and wonderful handling
- comfortable interior.

Cons
- pricey to modify (just like the camaro I guess lol)
- very little interior storage
- almost none existent trunk with top down or up.
- girlie car image. Lol

I preferred the sky look to the solstice, but after owning one, the sol grew on me.

The attention from the ladies was much greater in the solstice too. Many of times, I would have to let random ladies check out the car. The camaro gets similar attention but not nearly the girl-to-car ratio of the solstice.

I recommend getting a carfax and as much info on the previous owner as possible. I never had any mechanical issues except for a defective purge solenoid, that I replaced myself, but if maintained poorly, this car (turbo model) can get expensive to repair especially thru hard driving. Many stories on disintegrating pistons and bent valves due to crappy tunes and poor gas. If it was tuned for 25+psi, I would be very leery.(I know, you will have almost no way of knowing).

Good luck with your decision!

I have an 09 Sky Red Line.

If you get the LNF, look hard at the GMPP calibration. Maintains warranty and gains 30 hp and 50+ lb-ft of torque. Installed and reflash is around $300 or so.

Over all, very happy with the car.

Solstice and Sky are just styling choices. Solstice a bit rounder, Sky more sharp edged, almost Corvette like.

In the collectibility realm, I would think the Solstice GXP coupe would take that cake, wouldn't it?

I'd say they're both a little Corvette like, its just that the Solstice seems to have taken a bit of inspiration from the first generation of Corvettes while the Sky is from the latest generation.

Solstice Coupes are pretty low volume production.

Not sure of the final number, but less than 2,000 if I recall correctly. Which has two potential errors........................that I can recall..................or that it is correct.

Drove one and the visibility makes a Camaro look quite open by comparison. But never got the chance to drive with the top off. Nice feature, but unlike the Corvette, it can't be stored on board.

I have a Solstice and I love it. I have not had any problems with it and I have had it for two years. Lots of fun to drive. I only drive on nice day. You might want to check out the Solstice Form.

Well, the Solstice I was going to go look at this weekend was sold. Guess it wasn't meant to be. I will be however, looking for a Sky Redline now! A few in my area but they seem to be a little over-priced. A big thank you to everyone who contributed to the thread! You have convinced me. I was originally set on a Camaro, but a few real-life things happened in the last couple of weeks and my car budget took a small hit. I remembered the Solstice, and started checking them out and they are within my price range. Just need to find one with low (20,000 or less) miles for a decent price. And now I wait...

Also, anyone ever bought a car from Automax/Carmax? I never really felt too sure about getting a car from a place like that. They have a 2008 with 37k for 18,999. Just a little nervous that the car was a rental car or something. Guess I just need to pony up $35 and get a CarFax.
