I was at a Caddy dealer after have been driving their 2010 CTS loaner car (the escalade was in for service) when I was test driving their used 2007 STS with the 3.6L. I thought the 2007 STS was better than the 2010 CTS's 3.0L V6.
But the CTS is ten times the car the STS is.

I would highly suggest looking at a 11 V6 Charger. They start at around 25k (msrp, last I checked they have a 500 rebate on them and you can surely get it less than MSRP), 27 MPG ighway, 292 HP, all the room you could want, the 5 year 100k mile powertrain warranty. I had the joy of sitting in one yesterday and let me tell you, pictures do not do this car justice (mind you this one was an R/T with the road and track package). Otherwise the CTS would also be a great choice. Also may want to check the 11 Avenger and 200, VERY surprising cars, much better exteriors and interiors, the pentastar V6 (283 HP/29 MPG hwy).

08 CTS can come with a CPO also I can mod the interior too for business.
A warranty on even a brand new car is never free, its priced in there somewhere. And you only see a bennfit if something major happens.
Which neither you or the dealer wants, why ya gotta twist their arms sometimes on warranty work.

Its all kinda like car insurance, a gamble on both sides if its of value to have or sell it.

Why the rash of 3rd party places that will sell you a warranty on a used car you already own. Research some of them and see what a warranty will cost ya on a car you like. And figure out the cost of one from a dealer with one.

My answer for everything these days is Audi S4 2004-2007 ish depending on mileage you should be in the $22-28,000 range with mileage about 45-70,000.

Actually, high mileage (100k) or so W211's are going for 13/14...
I think for the mid 20's he can get a nice condition W211 E55 for that price (60k miles or so) and the Starmark CPO warranty is good until 100k miles

Pfft. Mercedes, BMW, and Audi are all so obsessed with what each other is doing that they've ended up building the exact same cars.

After the money pit our Mercedes turned out to be and the service bay queen my uncle's E350 has been, the only way I'd ever take a new Mercedes is if someone handed me the keys for free.

The Cruze is a nice inexpensive sedan, but it's not on the level of the CTS the OP was looking at. The OP was talking about expensive taste on a low budget around $22K.

Have you checked on the price of a used, late model Hundai Genesis sedan? Even the 3.8 V6 gets great reviews.
