I'm willing to agree that the $60 a month is a very good price for what the plan includes. It's just the damn phone that's crazy.

I love my 80GB ipod. I got it right about when it came out from the Apple store for $349, the same price that they are now. I don't think that it's too overpriced. I have beat the hell out of my ipod in very extreme conditions and it works just fine. My problem with it is itunes and the fact that they try to monoploize music sharing. You can't even get track information if you didn't import songs with itunes. Is there a program to bypass this? I hate not having proper track information on my songs.
As far as phones go I need just that, a PHONE. I don't need my life in one gadget. The only features I like out of a phone are the ability to text, save phone numbers, and a camera(because it's nice to take a pic of some crazy shit that you see out on the street). Otherwise you can have all that other stuff. My wife has a Motorola Q. To me it's rediculous. It sounds like crap when she talks to me on it. All that money and they can't even get the phone part right. When I get back from the desert in a few weeks I am going to be in the market for a new phone. My old one(a Samsung something) shuts off whenever it feels like it. I'm actually looking at that Motorola KRZR. I can get one as a free upgrade through Verizon(my provider), and it's thin for carrying in my pocket. Anybody have any experience with this phone? The main thing is that I need something that fits in my pocket comfortably.

I have 2 friends with KRZR's and they have been having some problems with it.....they also are Verizon....like they couldn't hear their ringtones when they played and whats weird is that they both had the problem at the same time...and it freezes up on them....and they have asked to trade my RAZR for their KRZR and i said no way...my RAZR is better looking than the KRZR lol....the RAZR isn't really that bad i guess...it's light and slim....i also find texting on the KRZR was pretty hard compared to the RAZR so....ya

Even though I find the iPhone too expensive, I can tell you that the iPhone works nothing like the iPod.

I absolutely hate the iPod's control scheme (that running the finger around the circle isn't particularly precise). But the iPhone is actually a nice piece of equipment if you can get past the price.

I forgot all about the iTunes format thing with the iPod. I don't like that either.

My friend that got the iPhone had, previously, the same phone I did. An LG VX8100. That 2 year old phone sounded better (on my end receiving his call) than his new iPhone does. (Though that COULD be due to the iPhone being AT&T/Cingular and the VX8100 being on Verizon. I've noticed Verizon has the best sound quality.)

I don't know about the KRZR, but it sounds like you'd be pretty happy with the LG enV from what you've said you want the phone to do. It's not as little as the RAZR Maxx or KRZR, but it would fit your needs nicely I think.

If you're set on a thin clamshell style phone though, the LGVX8700 looks good and gets high reviews in everything I've read. It was my 2nd choice vs. the enV, the enV only won out due to it have a QWERTY keyboard for ease of entering texts/info.

I wrote an accident report today and the other party left before I got there. I was asking questions about the other vehicle, where it was parked, color, etc, etc, etc. Dude pulled out an IPHONE and worked that thing like a charm, pictures and all. I was quite impressed.

Allow me to reword that then.

In my experience, and talking to people with various services, Verizon has the most 'natural' sound quality. Sounds less like you're talking on a cell phone, and more like a landline.

TAG, the iPhone does what it was intended to do nicely. I won't argue that. It's just the price, and only one carrier I have a problem with.

A phone as 'big' as the iPhone should have been on multiple carriers. I can wait for Verizon to get a version similar to it though. You KNOW others will follow in the iPhone's footsteps.

I'd love to have the blackberry. Sprint isn't bad, but for the love of God, they GET ON MY NERVES. My wife bought some new cell phone from them....ordered it on line. It took forever, so she called them back. They said the order was lost and they replaced it. Well, guess what? It shows up like two days later. We both said, "that was fast!" THEN...two weeks later, another one shows up at our door. Being the good, honest people we are, we call them, inform them they sent us two phones, and they send us a packet to return it. Ok... for now. Then, weeks later, a $280 charge shows up on our account. WTF??? We call. They say "you ordered two phones. We charged you for both." Ummmm no. They credit back the money and we call it a day. Next month, there's that freaking charge again. Of course, after some serious complaining, it was taken off. I'm getting tired of the inability to perform their jobs correctly. It's like someone is up there just pushing a button adding charges to peoples accounts to see if they catch it so they can make more $$$. I am just tired of it. Rant over.

Sprint....is by far the worst of the cell phone companies. I don't "hate" many things, or people....but I HATE, with a PASSION Sprint from my dealings with them.

Absolutely no morals in that company's daily practices whatsoever. They can not figure out how to A) Charge correctly for services/merchandise rendered, or B) Explain to the consumer what they are charging.

Didn't they do that with the Razor when it came out? At first it was only offered by one company, then they all were given their variants, or am I completely out in Never-never land?

no, the RAZR was only available for Cingular when it first came out, and then maybe a year or 2 later it was available for every other cell phone company.

So maybe the same will happen to the Iphone. I doubt Apple would confine itself to one company.
