305hp 0-60 in 4.8 Lat G's .9 1/4 mile ... 13.5 Camaro MSRP - 31k. 426hp est. 0-60 in 4.6 est. .94 G's est. 12's .....??? where is the competative comparison? not to mention the Sti may just be the stupidest looking car on the planet. Edit. maybe you ment the new mustang... 2010 Mustang. 330hp 0-60 in 5.2

Try the same thing with this pair's predecessors of 1970 or so and you'll find yourself in a bit of a wrestling match. Ain't progress wonderful? Maybe yes, and maybe sometimes it's fun to wrestle."

),except for maybe wheels and bluetooth, there are no options. My POINT,which you missed,is that the Camaro SS and STI peform very similar as do the GT500 and supposedly the SS. The STI will outhandle the SS easily........and it's a better value because of it's added features for the money(AWD,and namely the ulitilty of 5 doors),BUT.....and here is where you missed my point.....BUT,you wouldn't dismiss the performance of the Camaro because it lacked the handling prowess of the Scooby.....would you? The GT500 may lack the value and may have less handling than the SS,but you would be ignorant to dismiss it's performance. |

For 40-some thousand dollars. Yes, you get one helluva performer in the GT500. But for 30-some, you can get a Camaro SS...that performs better or equal in nearly all areas. That's why I can't take the current one all that seriously. The new one, however, is somewhat impressive for its price-point ('moderately' because that's still Corvette territory....). And I give Ford kudos for improving it. (and imports aren't even on my radar...sorry. )

for instance the Corvette z06 pulls right around 1 G, and your mustang probably pulled a .3

Just so I understand this correctly, handling and grip don't go hand-in-hand when we are talking about an STi?
I'm a Scooby fan myself, but don't go fooling yourself into thinking AWD makes up for a lack of balance and structural tuning. You praise to Subaru having done this for years applies to dirt racing...where AWD matters most. As for the GT500 comparison, it's a fine specimen but the bang for your buck still belongs to Chevy...for the Vette all along and soon for the Camaro again.
