Yeah, because a 400 horsepower 3600 lb. car will always lose to a 370 horsepower 4200 lb. car.....

Dodge Challenger R/T 6-speed manual, STOCK.

0-60 in 5.9
1/4 mile in 14.1 @ 100.8 !!!

(Minimal wheel spin I might add so you can't use that excuse)

I have never seen a stock R/T below the high 13s or mid 5s either....

Apples to Apples, Stock vs Stock, the GTO will come out on top.

I would personally take the 470 horsepower/470 lb-ft. Hemi-powered 6.4 liter Challenger SRT8 392. Dodge says they can do the 1/4 mile in lows 12s(12.4 they say) bone stock.

OK, a slightly modded RT with tune, catbacks and CAI. It will beat the GTO. A stock RT has 400 ft/lbs of torque (same as the GTO), a modded one even more. I've done 0-60 in 4.7 secs and that's with a beginners launch (and mods). I suppose stock vs. stock, you are probably correct. So I stand corrected.

GT500 gets my vote. I actually still wouldn't mind having one. (I like the previous body style better though)

i think the fact that its big makes it practical. The Camaro is almost as large as isnt as comfortable for its passengers.

the GTO curb weight is 3750lbs and average about 330rwhp. (manual)
Challenger RT weight is 4000lbs and average about 330rwhp (both autos and manuals)

they are not too far apart. Now stick an auto in the GTO and youre in trouble. Its less efficient and only has 3 speeds plus an overdrive.....

The Challenger R/T has a curb weight of 4154 lbs.

http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...val/index.html

6-Speed Manual
Dyno: 335 hp @ 5200 rpm, 350 lb-ft @ 4500 rpm
http://blogs.insideline.com/straight....dyno.plot.jpg

Bigger weight difference than I thought when I looked it up, but not so much of a difference in power... these figures may not be entirely accurate but they are close.

The Pontiac GTO has a curb weight of 3725 lbs.

http://www.theautochannel.com/news/2...03/198342.html

6-Speed Manual
Dyno:341 hp at 5900 rpm, 334 lb-ft at 4600 rpm
http://www.gmhightechperformance.com.../photo_04.html

Auto to Auto=Challenger R/T(Challenger will get the jump, but may be closer at higher speeds, but the Challenger does have gearing advantage)

Manual to Manual=GTO (GTO will get the jump because of lighter weight, but I'm going to guess at higher speeds it won't pull away because the two basically make the same power, the Challenger will stay within a few car lengths and that will be that)

RANDOM Sidenote: The Camaro's HID projector xenons FLICKER LIKE NO OTHER !!! I was going down the road and I thought the Camaro was flashing his brights(do they have xenon brights ?) ! Kind of like a Maserati Gran Turismo's xenons that I saw the other day...

other sources say the chally r/t weighs 4041lbs. from what i gather on the net from the owners of the vehicle the SRT8 is at about 4150ish and the R/T weighs 80-100lbs less than those.

heres a dyno sheet from an LS2 owner, roughly the same power as R/T

Maybe the GTO driver was bad... Multiple times. Don't know what else to say about this.

Pretty close to mine, a .6 lb-ft. difference in torque, and a neglible difference of 7 horsepower. Okay either the GTO is overrated or the 5.7 R/T is underrated. One is rated at 370, the other 400, I would expect the GTO to have a near 10% advantage on the dyno in terms of hp, Since it has near 10% more horsepower ??

It's true, the R/T has always been underrated. It's stock HP is actually about 400 HP. Dodge hid this to preserve sales of the SRT. 15-16% loss for power to the wheels... It's not the first time.
