Where did you get your contract in the first place?

Just talked to another Walmart who told me that the Walmart I called back home was probably trying to screw me into another contract.

I worked for Walmart for 7 years as a manager. I can tell you any product they sell with the same part number is the same as it is at any other place. If the number is different (a W added to it etc. ) than it is different. I can say I've bought tons of stuff from there over the years (you get a discount on top of the low prices) and never had a problem with anything except for my PS2 which I bought on launch day. I will say you get what you pay for. By a $29 DVD player and you get a $29 DVD player. I've always bought the brand name stuff (Sony, Philips, Pioneer) and never had a problem. Even then stuff can break, but if you buy a Sylvania, Emerson, Funai, Symphonic, Durabrand, Apex, etc. be prepared to replace it in a year or two (although some do last).

As for the cell phones and networks there are only four networks in the US Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile. Everyone else rents frequencies from them. I'm not surprised they want to lock you into a new contract at Walmart. Clearly the price of the phone is subsidized so they need to recoup it somewhere. A Verizon store will be willing to deal because they don't want to loose a customer. Walmart/Radio Shack doesn't really care that you stay with Verizon. They only make money on the plans and would be just as happy to hook you up with an iphone on AT&T or a G2 on T-Mobile.

Wow. Reading comprehension for the fail. You didn't even bother going to the Straight Talk website I posted. It says plain as day that Straight Talk is a Tracfone plan, NOT Verizon. It's pointless arguing over who it is as their website tells you.
