Hate to break it to ya but the "doctor's note" won't actually work in court against a halfway decent judge and prosecuting attorney.

I know the skin disorder that has been mention (Photosensitivity) as I went to school with a kid who had it. He only had a MILD case but yet him and his parents had to have their vehicles specially made with windows and tint that you can not buy (they was also federally required to be badged as being built for such a propose) and he also had to wear a full body suit with built in breathing apparatus.

Do you go around wearing such a suit? Do you have a specially made windshield for when you have to drive into the sun? Is your car badged as being specially built for people with Photosensitivity? If you're not sensitive enough to be able to drive into the sun or to wear a suit then you are not sensitive enough to warrant such a dark tint on the front windows. All of this will be pointed out in court.

This is not the place. When I had my custom truck in San Diego I got pulled over about every 3 months. Just so they can check the emissions legality of my aftermarket parts.

He's doing his job, I don't agree with the Law but that isn't the Officer's fault.

Don't go there.

Thanks.

Thats why I'll be keeping my windows at the legal limit. Front side windows, and back window can be no more than 35%. I'll probably put 35% on the door windows and back window, and 20% on the 1/4 windows.

Although it is ridiculous that he cut a hole in your tint.

Effin cops? I thought you were in Kamloops? I've never heard of this 'Effin' place. Sounds English, potentially German. I might expect a name like that in Southern Ontario, we have an Effingham out here. Is Effin a small town near Kamloops? I ask because I assume you wouldn't be substituting Effin for a rather bad term.

Complain on him for scratching you tint. He CAN NOT do that.

Law is law. You can NOT argue with the police. You argue with THE JUDGE. Police do their jobs and if they make the wrong decision, the Judge sees the problems and corrects it. Usually, the officers Sergeant sees the problem first and corrects it with the officer.

Officers aren't perfect. We make mistakes too. If the tint on the sides were limo, it's a ticket....plain and simple. A "doctors note" does not mean that he MUST let you go. He can still issue the citation and then you can take the note to court where a Judge will accept or deny the doctors note. ....at least, this is my experience....but... Personally, I would not give the person a citation if they showed a note...but anyone could just make one up. I know....I could call...

The fact remains that if he scratched your tint, you should complain to Internal Affairs. He DAMAGED YOUR property. He has NO RIGHT to do that....NONE. That should get him "days."

And...if you roll down your illegally tinted front windows, the officer would not have been able to see them.

This cop, who booked me also for going through an amber light 3 years ago, just didnt care that I had a letter. I usually would have it re-tinted (before I got the exemption letter) but this cop said that if he saw the tints on it again, he will impound the car. Then he gave me a ticket, cut a big hole in my tints and left. Im thinking this cop hasnt been laid for months! WTF is wrong. I was totally courteous with him but he just wanted to book me!!!!!! I usually do but its so cold lately (down to -26c) that its impossible to drive with the window down and if you do, you look more suspicious lol.

What did you mean by your comment "That should get him days?"

PS my car looks like a tard with a hole in the tint. I'll post pics if anyones interested but I guess this forces me to take it all off asap and hence thats prolly why he did it. He said he wanted it for evidence! :(

He put the fear into me cos he talked about impounding the vehicle, so I was like on eggshells. So I had to comply incase he flipped and wanted to impound it. can he do that. What come back would you say to prevent a cop wanting to impound your vehicle? PM me if you wanna be private about it.

Many thanks.

If, at any of the 3 times I was pulled over and given warnings for having my fog lights on, the police threatened to impound my car, I would of laughed my ass off and told him to lose the "I'm a badass" attitude that comes with "rookie cop syndrome", which turns out, usually lasts longer than their freshman year of being a patrol cop.

Without showing me proof that I did something so illegal that it merits having my car impounded, theres no way in hell I'm letting them impound my car. Atleast not without me in it.
