I was in front of that GTO... it was raining pretty well shortly before this part of road...

It was his first time up there at the Snake... I knew better, and slowed down (in effort to get a better rockstorephotos.com picture) and was already around the bend when the accident happened.

I think he slid out on the inital part of the turn (you hear someone yell out in the beginning of the video), and then he overcorrected what the car was trying to do and thats why he slid the way he did... The guy is a good kid, a USMC firefighter to top it off... Ive got some pictures of the weather that day...lemme load em up.

Heres what I got... unedited pics of the weather... I was 2nd in line behind that G8, then the GTO, followed by a TVS Camaro and then the rest of our group... about 15 cars total.

The first picture is stunt rd (the valley side, my car), the 2nd was mulholland heading to the snake just after the wipers swiped... the 3rd was 1/2 way between kanan & PCH

Yep, it is ALWAYS very slick after a brief rain. The oils from the road come out and it gets slick.

Tight in, loose off and no forward grip. I'd drop the track bar a couple rounds and move everyone way back from the corners.

Your pics look nothing like the weather conditions in that video. But, if the roads were indeed "wet", that makes this guy even more of a douche.

I can tell you what I would have done! It would not be driving like an idiot on a public road thats what I would have done. And no I haven't made a mistake in any of my cars or on my bikes. I save stuff like that for a closed enviroment like the tracks!

From those photos you posted the links to I didn't see anything that it was wet! And who cares if it was or was not he was driving like a dumb ass and crashed into someones property that they pay money for! Lucky he didn't hit or injure someone.
You cant tell the roads were wet from the 2 photos I posted? Are you blind? Look at the yellow lines, there are puddles of water on them.

Seriously? Puddles?

Anyways I don't care about that anyways. Posted this to show a guy (who doesn't know how to drive) trying to show off at the wrong place at the wrong time, then blame it on wet conditions and the people on the side of the road! Then people on the GTO forum posting "who cares it was just a bunch of cheap bikes".

Also don't care that it was GTO (Not hating on GTO's). I could have cared less it if it was a Dodge, Ford, Or Camaro.

yes, divert all responsibility over a little water.. I can appreciate that he laid claim to the accident and somewhat apologized/is trying to learn from it.. but..

driver obviously had no idea how to get his car back under control (or how to keep it under control in the first place).

it's like he noticed there were cameramen and decided he needed to keep cornering quickly to impress them.

as for the forum full of professional drivers.. that's the sad part. even inexperienced 16 year olds could watch the video and laugh at his lack of reaction to the wipe out .. lol.

As was said you didn't see what led to the slide due to the camera being turned so you don't know about his reaction or lack thereof.

Everyone laughs from the internet but until you are placed in that situation with a split second to react you don't know.

By the way the car was an automatic, with the wet roads and the uphill grade if he happened to give it just a little too much throttle it could have downshifted unexpectedly and sent him sideways in a hurry. I have had it happen too many times.

Man it's lkle this guy is your brother or something. With the way you are defending him. Must be a GTO thing!

Guy went to hot into corner slammed on brakes then slams on gas to come out of turn to get it sideways/show off and it goes bad cause he doesn't know how to drive! Don't have to be an expert/genious/or be there when theres video showing what he did!

Extended Version also

Kudos to that guy for sacking up. Not only did he stop after he hit the bikes, but he also copped to it on the GTO forum. He made a mistake, so what.
